Start with smoother whiskeys (nothing 'big' or peaty), Japanese ones can be a good starting place. Add a little bit of water to the measure you pour to 'open it up'. Give it a good sniff or two. Take a mouthful and let it sit on your tongue for a moment. Savour and keep drinking!
