I feel someone is going to get a steal with Nikolayev. Obviously hope it’ll be the Devils. Even if Schmid hits, the Devils don’t have any depth behind him.
I wouldn't say there's no depth. Daws still has potential and has shown some nice things. Malek is doing pretty well and Liiga and is HUGE. There's also Brennan, will be interesting to see what he does this year.

Some depth is there, like Devs3cups mentioned, but I can agree with you in the case, that no one is looking like onvious potential solid backup or even starter for now. With stability in track record and with some way above average stats regularly. With how cups are winning now, I prefer to have more nhl goalies.
And Nikolayev has this kind of track record and potential. May be he is too early with sitting, but he is young too. Anyway I'm on the hot chair with his situation. Looks like we are in the perfect situation for sign him. But we can't have any signs of his future plans until his actual deal will end.

All the Gritsyuk highlights are getting me hyped on him all over again but then I remember we have to another 2 years. I mean ultimately it could be for the best to have him come over in 2 years and have him cheap for a year when Luke and Mercer will be on their big boy deals but I want him now. The only worry I have with him is that it's a Gusev situation where sine he'll be 24 his ELC is one year and if they sign him after his KHL season ends in 24-25 to have him as a playoff option then we wouldn't even have an ELC year and maybe he'd be to expensive to sign and we have to move him instead. That seems unlikely though and Fitz probably wouldn't burn that year if he thinks that'd be the case. Also Goose was considered the best player outside the NHL so he was able to command an actual deal off the start. Idk if Gritsyuk ends up that good and maybe even if the one year is burned it's a smaller deal

Glad we got this guy. With the unpredictability of how offseasons go with contracts and whatnot , this guy stepping into the NHL somewhat polished at a low cap hit could payoff big time for us.

We will get a lot of incidental Grits coverage if he ends up playing with Michkov a bunch.

May be we will see this line in some games, may be even more. A couple of interesting talents with Arseniy. But it should be weak defensive line, so i`m not expecting a lot for now. Will see.

What sort of skates is that guy on the left wearing?
