Over 28 hrs for my mom (supposedly restored at 7pm this evening) in Bucks. She had to come to my place in Philly with my brother.

Time to get a Generac since these extreme weather events will be more frequent.

Anybody have one? We have a regular gas generator but just eats up too much gas and is not a whole home system like a Generac.
We bought a house two years ago and the previous owners had one installed. The thing is a glorious

I’ve almost bought a ‘70 twice in the last ~10 years. This must have been a long time ago or there was a lot more going on with that. ~5 years ago, it still would have set you back 20k. Even a project car ‘68-72 Judge is 25-30k USD these days. I mean not running. Figure you’re at 35-40k for a non-matching car that runs.

My dad is a massive classic car and motorcycle guy. Did most repairs and restoration himself and roped me into them for basically all my life. What stopped me both times was remembering how much money and effort it took him to maintain them. You can afford to buy a very nice classic Ferrari. I promise you. The cost of keeping it on the road is a completely different animal.

Oh, yeah. I would have thought it would have gone for at least $30K, which is why the $8K final knock floored me. It was cherry inside and out. It was towards the end of the auction, which usually clears out the whales who've sewn up their targets, but, come on...$8,000??? Ridiculous.

I won't ever buy a high-ticket vehicle. I had a Jaguar a while back and the maintenance costs on that were easily triple what I would have to spend on a very good car. Oxygen sensor replacement cost me $3,200 - 15 years ago. Unless you're leasing or have the resources, even well-kept high-ticket cars come with boomerang costs that buckle the knees when things need to be replaced or repaired.

Ever since I moved up to Bucks County from the city it’s definitely been a difference in the power outages/the time it takes for power to go back on.

Mine is currently out but fortunately my dad lives close by & his is on.
My mom's street has been a nightmare bc the wires are above ground and a stiff fart can literally knock out the power for hours. They made some kind of mod but it still is not great.....

We have solar panels and I looked into the Tesla Powerwall but I would need two or 3 of them for multi day needs. Not cost effective even with the 30% energy credit/subsidy the Gov't will most likely take away from Elon ..lol.

The Generac is better for multi day losses even if we have to get the big ugly propane tank...

I think about the generac but it’s expensive. Not that I couldn’t shell it out but I always think in the sense of resell.
