It's legit a story. People are taking bets on who will break their streak first: Gaunce's goalless streak or Markstrom's lack of a shutout streak. I had money on Gaunce's goalless streak because it seemed easier for him to break that on a cheap empty net goal, than everything going right for Markstrom.

When Gudbranson's healthy he should still be the one sitting out. Can't think of another defenseman to take out of the lineup at this point.

That shutout record is dumb. How the team plays in front of you is such a major factor. Lu/Schneids should have had 2-3 more shutouts each minimum each and that was with an in-their-prime team.

Nothing really fancy about gaunces game and his rush and transitional play needs a lot of work, but if he can keep working hard down low and win those board battles while wearing down the opposing team, there is a place for him.
As for his lack of offense, scoring will come. I remember burrows couldn't buy a goal for a very long stretch when he started with the Canucks but hard work kept him on the team.

I don't think the scoring will ever come but he can contribute in other ways. He has shown not to mind getting his exterior dinged up. I'll take some of that.
