They had advantage of chances almost all game, which is not often at all how they look. That's what people have been complaining about even with their wins here or there... but it wasn't the case this game.

Never felt like they had any high quality chances to me.

It was a 10 way tie for worse forward on the ice.
Of the top six he has been the worst the last couple of games and he was doing a lot of contact avoidance and stick reaching tonight. Is Reichel the only guy who got the "i don't care how skilled you are you have to be two feet from the boards and in contact with opponents when you're digging pucks out". 23 could use some of that.

They took Bedard’s SOG away…. so he ends up up with 0 SOG and 0 SA, and a -1.

His linemate Bertuzzi also had 0 SOG and 0 SA.

Hall did manage 2 SOG and has 1 more SA.

Just brutal.

These kids in Rockford better save us because I don’t know where else the talent is going to come from unless we’re going to be a gutter team the next 3 years too

We are going to be bad again next year too.

Hopefully bad enough to scheme our way into the McKenna discussion. Could you imagine if we draft say Martone at #2 and then McKenna at #1 the following year too? Its not out of the realm of possibility.

And even if its not those 2....the fact of the matter is that after these next 2 drafts(by the start of the 2026/27 season)...no matter how painful and never ending the process may seem along the way....we're going to be absolutely loaded with young talent + tons of cap space + a new head coach.

To this day most fans still underestimate how long we truly have to go before our rebuild is complete. We aren't nearly as far along as say Anaheim or even San Jose. I personally think our strategy of early focus on building from the back end up and loading up with a ton of promising D prospects will pay off in the end. I'm confident that we're going to add multiple top-tier forward prospects in the coming 2 years to round everything out.

Naturally. But I hope we’re bad with a little more direction and purpose where these prospects can start filling in the Brodie/Martinez/Hall/Anderson/etc…slots.

Hopefully we have a new coach and can develop some identity with Rockford kids filling out the roster. Another bad season is fine. Another pointlessly bad season like this one is not. This year helps no one except our 1st round draft selection.

good because they need multiple top 3-5 picks and forward is not close to elite yet

As long as they’re the youngest team in the league and they let the kids play and make mistakes. As opposed to overpaying more vets to make make mistakes and not give a f***.
you mean paying 2-4x market rate on some of these vets to bring "character" isnt a good strategy??

From Ben Pope this morning"

"It didn’t work offensively tonight, but they had some good shifts in the ‘O’ zone,’’ Richardson said. ‘‘Taylor [Hall] gives them a little speed and [is] strong on the puck, ‘Bert’ is usually around that net and Connor is a playmaker, so it’s the makeup of a good line. It just didn’t connect tonight.’’

Hall strong on the puck? He turned puck over twice on one shift!

And lost count how many times Hawks can't get puck out or turn over at their blue line.
