We are currently:
3rd in GF
5th in GA
3rd in PP
16th in PK
3rd in goal differential
11th in points %
We've played the least number of games in the league, so by GF/PG we are first (4.03!) and GA/PG we are 10th (2.90). Last year we finished 5th best at GF/PG (3.51) 10th worst at GA/PG at (3.26), so we've improved in both directions.

I'm honestly surprised it took that long to start figuring it out. And, given how bad the PP was to start the year, it shows how lethal it's been since moving Point.

It looks like the set up we had with Drouin-Hedman-Kucherov, except Point moves around a lot. That movement, in itself, is tough to deal with.
Ohh man. That Drouin-Kucherov duo was on the verge of unstoppable. The only other guy than Drouin to plug in with Kucherov and immediately "get it" to such an effect is Guentzel. But the difference is Jake does that with almost everyone and I haven't seen Drouin click like that really with anyone else in his career.

So 1.13 differential, is that the best in the league?

The most glaring reason we've stopped sucking ass recently revolves around the special teams and Vasy, imo. PP is clicking and Vasy is making the routine saves. It also helps we are scoring like crazy right now, too.

That's fair but it's also unlikely staff gets fired during the season. There have been mid season changes in responsibility but this was expected the moment Stamkos left. We went from over a decade of someone hitting one timers on the left being our go to and fallback, to not having even a RH shot over there. It's taken a dynamic change for Point to fallback as that guy, then creep in while a lefty takes the spot. Both force Kucherov to make a different pass. I said this repeatedly when Stamkos/FA day happened, we have no RH shot capable of hitting one timers, so it's gonna look very different. That's why even Raddysh had time there. The fact that we sit 3rd in PP statistics losing the 2nd biggest goal scoring weapon this generation is a testament to Cooper, Kucherov, Hedman and Point. Anybody think Washington survives post-Ovi with Carlson and whoever else is left to stay near the top? I dont.

For all the fire Cooper shade I think you got some crow to eat regarding the scoring depth this year too bud

I dunno where 2.90 comes from, my math tells me 2.93 (85 GA in 29 games). Either way, 4.03 GF-2.93 GA, +1.10 difference, only teams better are Winnipeg (+1.12) and Washington (+1.13). We're a fair bit unlucky to only be 12th in regulation win percentage right now.
It seems like on nhl.com in the standings tab they have us as 85 GA but then in the stats>teams tab they have us as 84GA which is how they calculated 2.90.

It's possible one includes the obligatory GA that comes from a shootout loss and the other doesn't.

Personally, I'd be in favor of not counting it as well, but I'm not gonna parse through the shootout data of 32 teams to get an appropriate figure and basis for comparison.

yeah it looks like the GA on the standings page counts the goal from the SO loss and the one from stats>teams doesn't
