As if they haven't learned anything in the Detroit game. We scored because we crashed the net. Instead they're trying (and failing) to create some highlight reel plays.

This 100 times over. It's like we figure it out and then forget all over again. Our issue isn't a personnel issue (although a power forward would be nice). It's an issue of mentality.

GO TO THE NET INSTEAD OF TO THE BOARDS.

My concern is more this. We're not learning from our mistakes We're making the same bad plays game after game. Too many turnovers. Too much passing. Shooting wide and high. I'm fine with a learning curve, given all these rookies, as long as we're actually learning and improving.

You do understand that a few games can change that right? It's foolish to sit comfortable just because we're in 4th with over half the season to go.

Absolutely. We're also a few games away from leading the Atlantic. Not expecting that to happen at all haha, just saying.

Well we get Hedman back soon and that will really help. I don't think anyone is comfortable with how we've done without Stamkos, but like Yzerman said he's not going to trade away our future to make a quick fix. Not panic time yet.

I'm starting to think they have been told not to battle so that no more injuries occur. :sarcasm:

That's true for every team in the league. Rask can go down and Boston could sink to the basement. We have a pretty comfortable playoff cushion at the moment. Despite our recent struggles, we've managed to get points in 5 of our last 6 games.

No one in hockey picked this team to make the playoffs, and yet here we are without our best player, our best defenseman, and with about a dozen players with fewer than 80 NHL games under their belt, and if we win tonight we might be sitting second in the Atlantic with games at hand.

We've overachieved. No reason to give part of the future away to help right now, since help is on the way anyway.

This man speaks the truth. We will regret it if we make a panic trade because we are having some trouble scoring consistently when we're missing our #1 C (who just so happens to be a top 3 player in the world), missing our #1 defenseman, and playing with more rookies than any other team in the league. The fact that we've gone .500 under those conditions is very impressive and if we continue to do this well and make the playoffs, expect Cooper to be a Jack Adams candidate similar to Bylsma in 2011.

After the first period I was pretty happy but that second period was just horrible. It's like we're not allowed to shoot after we make at least three passes in their zone.

If we're going to get shutout again I'm going to snap. There's just no excuses to lose this one.

If we trade anyone, I hope it's Purcell. I used to think he would be traded because he's somewhat redundant. Now I'm starting to hope he's traded because he sets a bad trend. He makes lazy plays in the offensive zone. Five steps, skate wide, turn, throw the puck to the first white jersey you see. Repeat.

When Purcell actually takes a step toward the net, he's dangerous. He has a great shot. His issue isn't that he doesn't shoot, it's that more often than not he steps wide, so even when he does shoot it's harmless. If he would pay the price and drive the net just a little more often, it would make a huge difference for us.

That's how you treat someone that takes liberties with your goalie.

That was necessary Clutterbuck. Always a good play to punch a guy in the face for no reason.

I love the guy, and hes one of my favorite players ever, but if we just removed Marty from the powerplay for the next two weeks i'd be elated.

We're panicking on the PP. It's like how a player in a drought grips his stick too tight. The entire team does that on the PP.

Only two things I've questions of Cooper so far this year.

1) Why isn't he changing up this PP. Unit and strategy.

2) Why is he playing Taormina so ******* much.
