Only rumour I've seen from a legitimate source is him wanting 5x5 and Colorado offering 3 year deal.

I read that he wants what he is getting paid in the KHL (4 mil per) on a 5 year deal and Colorado offering less. Not 5x5. I don't know why COL refuses to pay him that and I can't imagine why Montreal won't give PK a long term deal at 4.5. What a steal that is!

SEnd PK here.

How much cap space do the Leafs have right now, and how much do the Habs? If the PK Subban situation in Montreal cant be resolved and PK cant get the contract he wants and asks to be traded, what would it take to get him?

Something along the lines of a Kadri, Rielly and a first?
I have a feeling the Habs would ask for an overpayment like that and I would honestly rather have Kadri, Rielly and the first over Subban

Which is why I'd offer sheet him if I had another deal lined up to upgrade the forward group or goaltending as well. A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for a top pairing defenseman is fantastic. At the very least, you force Montreal to sign him for more than they wanted.

Kadri, Rielly, and a 1st for Subban? **** that.

I'd take an ELC Rielly over a 6 mil Subban.

Not sure what is give up, but definitely not Rielly

YA. and hey it's MTL. **** the Habs!

NOt we want to trade with them anyway.

Only question. Is PK enough to keep our 1st from being a top 3 like it was with the KEssel deal?

I'm sure it's been discussed but Ryan O'rielly must be demanding too much for Colorados liking. Leafs should be all over it if that's the case. He's gonna be a player and I'd have nothing against a 5 mil 6 year type contract.

Bozak, Finn/Percy, Colborne, 2nd?

Getting RoR is basically the end of Grabo.

If RoR wants 6 mill, we would have 11.5 mil tied up in 2 #2 Cs ....

Ya I caught myself, 5 mil is more realistic. RoR is 21... He could easily develop into the gritty, skilled, leader 1b 2a C we need.

Would be much more content with him as a #2 C.

But for the meanwhile I would be happy with him between Kessel/Lupes and hope he develops.

6x6 for O'Reilly?
NO.

Duchene Yes.

So I have officially changed my mind on O'Reilly. Didn't think he was after so much money. After one good season.

I would rather have Matt Duchene, screw another #2 Centre!

although if we did trade for Oreilly, definitely send Grabo the other way or in another trade.

This guy wants 6 million a season? holy s****, lol that's a potentially dangerous contract. He hasn't proven he can produce 50+ points for multiple seasons.

Edit: Gardiner for Oreilly?
then trade Grabo for a 1st and move up to draft say monahan.

NO that is what buddy was willing to offer.

I think the rumour was he won't sign for 4 or wants 5 something. It is in this thread I just don't remember. Sorry.

And I agree, you need to hit 50 more than once to impress me. BUt COL was playing him as a #1 for parts last year. SO they ****ed themselves.

O'rielly was the avs best player last year... He's 21 years old and will develop into at least a very solid 2C. I'd rather pay a guy like that 5 million a year then Komisarek or Connolly. Why would Grabo have to go?

Unless miraculously Getzlaf hits free agency AND signs with the leafs... There's no #1 C opportunities, take a chance on a young guy like O'rielly... or just keep signing mediocrity.

Caps dropping soon, isn't it? If not then I agree with you, it's just the cost that worries me

He doesnt have the offensive upside IMO to be a #1C.

However IMO he is a much better #2 C option in the future than Grabo is. Very solid in his two-way play. As I said above, would they do a Gardiner for OReilly Swap? then we can trade Grabo for something else.

What has O'Reilly done to prove he isn't "mediocrity"? 1 entire 55pt season.

BIg risk at 5M over long term.

at 3-3.5 for 1-3yrs I take him all day long.

Gardiner for RoR
Grabovski for B.Smith

Gardiner + Grabovski vs O'Reilly + Smith

I'm not sure what side I prefer. (Also assuming the Wings do something about their meh defense)

Where does Grabo go to get us a #1 center?

I would love to give up Grabo, Gardiner, +? to get OReilly and a #1C, but where is the #1C to get for Grabs, +?

Edit: Duh COL!@!

Oreilly + Duchene for Grabo + GArds + ?

Look at the Blues they essentially have 3 #2 centers. They are also one of the favorites out of the west this year. Gardiner for O'Reilly swap would be logical for both sides, also considering we drafted Rielly. Leafs would have to send some cap their way though.
