he's better on the wing than at center
he can still take faceoffs.

randy wants a big checking line
dont be suprised

Kulemin-Connolly-Frattin
Komarov-McClemment-Brown

I expect something like that to start unless trades are made. I'd be shocked if Steckel was put in over Kulemin or Frattin. He might get in over Komarov or Brown, but I hope not.

I don't usually do this but I feel compelled with the season back.

2013-14 lineup

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
JvR - Grabo - Perry
Kulemin - McClement - Frattin
D'amigo - Komarov - Brown

Edler - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Gunnarsson
Liles - Franson/Komisarek

Luongo

Give or take 16k to throw around after the various UFA departures.

Incoming caphits:
Luongo 5.3
Perry 6.5
Edler 5.5

Doubt this happens, but Burke will definitely have deep pockets this upcoming offseason with alot of good talent potentially available. I've criticized his UFA signings in detail, but there's a big difference between overpaying for Connolly, and overpaying for Perry/Edler..

What are the odds the leafs have interest in Kaberle?

Montreal might buy him out.
He still lives here, has a GF + Kid here.
Either way, I bet he ends up in Toronto, Montreal or Ottawa.

I think he goes all in for both Getzlaf AND Perry. and then Edler if possible lol.

I think Conolley and Franson will be going to Van for Luongo.
Reason: Conolley has one year left and will fill Kesler's spot. Franson will have that big D pressence (not saying he is a defensive force but a young big defense man)and shot that the Nucks will lose after Edler goes to UFA this summer. It fits the holes Van will need to fill this season and gives them Cap relief. There will be a 2nd or 3rd rounder included.

problem with this deal is, Franson is still RFA. his value isnt as high as it would be if he was already signed. and with injuries to gards and holzer and with Rielly most forsure going back to junior as i think he should be regardless, i think we resign franson and keep him to fill holes if he still wants to play here which is still in question i guess. I also think vancouver will be looking more at younger players in any deal for Lu, they are close to the cap and i dont think gillis wants to tinker a hell of alot with his roster.but a guy like bozak make sense to me forsure because of the loss of kesler for however long hes out.

frattin
he should be a top 6 forward
i would get rid of mccarthur)
i like the size element of the 'smack' line (steckel mclement)
steckel can physically handle lucic and jagr types

My ideal third line would be Kulemin - Connolly - Frattin, but MacArthur needs a place on the roster and he'll most likely play on the second line with Grabovski, which would mean Kadri wouldn't have a role on the team. I don't really wanna see Kadri on the third line, nor do I wanna see Frattin on the fourth. MacArthur would be the odd man out if it were up to me...

You see, he's got some of the right elements to be a top 6 guy. I mean if you have 2 excellent players with him you could probably get away with it. I love Frattin, but I think he just isn't versatile enough to be a top6 guy. When I say Versatile I mean a well-rounded player (play making ability, iq, off/deff capability, etc) I think he's a lock for 18-20 goals a year playing on the 3rd line.

I don't see a spot for Kadri out of camp unless he amazes the coaches or trades are made. He may be included in 1 of those trades lol.

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Mac
Kulemin-Connolly-Frattin
Komarov-McClemment-Brown

I think their needs are a checking centre (Connolly)
A depth defenseman..(Franson)
And a back up ...

Vancouver was scouting the marlies during the lockout. Was it Scrivens, Jussi or Owuya?

I don't think many teams look at Connolly as a checking center. I don't think the Canucks would want that big of a cap hit coming back even though his contract is done at the end of the season. Bozak going back makes much more sense. Franson also makes sense to somewhat replace what they had with Sami Salo with the big RH shot on the PP.

Trade Mac for a pick and give Kadri confidence and a definite spot. The kid has top six ability so let him play.

i think this is true. he would be a great 3rd line guy if we had players as well that could bang it up. but unfortunately we have a crap load of 3rd line type guys that arent even good enough to play a 3rd line role lol i see what burke and wilson were trying to do and run 3 scoring type lines, but i hope he realizes now that was a mistake. this team needs a banger type 3rd line that can also score goals when needed. a line that can explode with energy when needed. we havent had that in a long time. and its what this team needs badly.

i seem to recall randy making a checking line of
steckel connolly crabb down the stretch

so i'm thinking mcclement (who randy wanted) replaces connolly

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - Kulemin
Mac - Bozak - Frattin
McC - Steckel - Brown
Lombardi/Connolly

if guys like Connolly/Lombardi get spots over Kadri than they should just trade the kid so he can light it up for some other team.

Yeah, but I'd really prefer if Kadri could beat out Mac..I mean I would expect him to beat Mac for a spot in the top six at this point and going forward. It's time for him to make the transition this season!

I would love for Kadri to be given a centre spot, but Lupul and Kessel are not good defensively, and Kadri is offensive first.

I agree. Although I'd consider putting him first line with Kessel if Kulemin was the other winger. Need someone defensively responsible.

Well, you are putting the only 2 players who have scored 30 goals in a season on the same line, with one of them being one who is usually the first man back.

Might work.
