This, and before anyone goes all "well then you must think we need Bickel!!?!!", that's not what I am saying. Just that this team lacks any significant players who can stand up for their teammates.

Montreal attempted to go this route. They brought in Prust, Armstrong, Bouillon and brought up White this season.

Buffalo attempted the same thing for a long time. They went out and got Ott, Scott and brought up McNabb and Foligno.

Teams recognize the need for toughness in their line-up.
Mashinter is a callup alternative
Big Mac too - but a bit early for him

That is why getting one of Erskine or Murray would be optimal for this year IMO. An NHL guy - playing 12 bottom pairing minutes effectively and regularly - and can drop with almost anyone if necessary.

McIlrath will help in the future. Hoping one of Haley/Mashinter can take a bottom-6 role next year to bring some toughness but they lack a forward who can do that. They quite literally have no forwards in the entire system who can even remotely project to being that type of player.

Huge game for both the standings and more so, the teams confidence. Like someone said on the first page, if we win this one, i feel like we can go on a big tear.

Hoping the boys come out flying tonight. LGR!

I think the team will address the overall "toughness" of the roster before the trade deadline, but it's important to make the right moves. I.e., a John Scott isn't nearly as useful as a Douglas Murray. Make the investment in guys who can actually play the game. Having a 3 minute a night boxer in hockey gear on the bench isn't going to dissuade anyone from playing physical.

Yogan and Wilson are both pretty tough...
But they are also both most likely AHL careerers
Jean?
Not sure...
Palmieri?
Maybe

This all day and twice on Sunday. The "goons" rarely play in the playoffs and are easily ignored if you have a decent PP.

Yeah because Stu and Asham would be fighting half the opposition.

This team is plenty tough. We just aren't as in your face about it as Boston is.

he may not have that get in your face attitude but with his size and steadiness, against this Boston team's size and toughness, it's one thing to have guys that will get at it like Stu and Asham but it's another to have Pyatt's size. Stu's not in the line up either so.

I doubt either Yogan or Wilson make the NHL at any point in the near future.

Jean is not a fighter, same with Palmieri although it seems like they both can do it.

All I meant was that the Rangers haven't drafted a big, mean, tough forward in quite some time. Odd considering the way Torts like his players to play.

This x100000.

When I read some of these comments, it sounds like some people are more concerned with winning fights than games.

"Can we trade like a 4th rounder (as our 5th is gone) to Buffalo to get us Big John Scott back? Please, Please!!! Was such a great move last year, Want him back!!! He can really kick some ..."

Nurses monotone voice heard from a cracked loudspeaker with elevator music being played too loudly "Medication Time. Medication Time. Hurry up and get your medication Boys and you will feel a lot better soon".

:naughty:

I see this as the most important game of the early season so far. Playing poorly on the road so far, but have really turned things around lately. Gotta get a good road win against tough competition and keep the winning ways going.

5-2 Rangers, 2 from Gabby, 1 from Richards, 1 from Cally, and an empty netter added by Krieder. 1 from Lucic and 1 from Marchand.

“@AGrossRecord: Same lineup for the #NYR tonight with Lundqvist in goal. Brian Boyle a healthy scratch for third straight goal. Eminger, Bickel also out.”

Considering how my words worked out last game, I'm going to say it again to be safe.

Nash is bad. He is snakebitten. Probably wont put up any points. Can't score, yadda yadda etc. etc.

Before last game I played TB in NHL 13. Right off the opening face-off, Nash scored with a wicked wrister.

Yesterday, I murdered the Bruins 5-1. Goals from Stepan, Nash (3), and Staal.

HUGE game.. I do not want to go back to .500.

Shot needs a fedora.

It occurs to me that the new line balance should aid us against World War Zed on the the opposing blueline. Keep Cally, Gaborik away from him. Or Cally and Nash.
