So snow hit south, west, and northeast of us. How did we not get a single snow flake out of this storm. lol
100%. One of the things I love about living in central NC is that the winters are mild, and even when it snows it's pretty much all going to be gone by this time tomorrow. The best kind of snow
Unlike this nonsense.

f*** that noise. As a kid I would have been so excited, but as an adult my back is already aching thinking about shoveling that mess.
ReportedHorseradish mayo on a cheesesteak. I don't know if that'll be my go-to from now on, but it's definitely going to be in the rotation.

I've gone bacon and black olives on mine with mozzarella cheese when I was in college.
I'm with you 100% on the pizza steak, but mayo on beef... no. Except as previously discussed, in the special sauce on a Big Mac.Hear me out. Normally, I'm a purist, but the tavern down the street from me does this with their cheesesteak and it works beautifully. It's my dad's favorite sandwich in the city right now and when he stops by for a visit, we inevitably end up there so that he can scarf one down. Unless you are a child, you know that horseradish works well with beef. Mayo also works well with beef, if you've ever discovered that beef drippings + mayo basically creates a beef aïoli that just amplifies the umami to 11. So, while my go-to will still be simply onions with hot peppers, and I very occasionally will go pizza steak out of nostaglia, the horseradish mayo play is one I'll definitely be returning to in the future.

I always suspected that there was mayo in special sauce but I allowed myself to deny it. What you don't know doesn't hurt you.Special sauce is just mayo with other stuff mixed in with it, as is horseradish mayo. You can deny yourself the opportunity to try this, but your life will be poorer for it.
It doesn't hurt you, but it does make you a hypocrite.I always suspected that there was mayo in special sauce but I allowed myself to deny it. What you don't know doesn't hurt you.

Totally a childhood thing. We made pizza out of literally anything: bagels, pretzels, fries, etc. Another favorite from childhood was the gizmo: literally a grinder with pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella. Did that exist anywhere else outside of NE Philly?I know it's more common on menus, but to me the pizza steak is way weirder and more off-putting.

Wasn't even always on the menu. You just had to know to ask. That definitely was not a South Jersey thing.
Kind of like a calzone but not quite?Totally a childhood thing. We made pizza out of literally anything: bagels, pretzels, fries, etc. Another favorite from childhood was the gizmo: literally a grinder with pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella. Did that exist anywhere else outside of NE Philly?
Basically, but on a hoagie roll, and then toasted to crispy melty perfection. Also, no other toppings. Just a roll, pizza sauce, and shredded mozzarella.Kind of like a calzone but not quite?
My mom used to make pizza toast with slices of white bread, a spread of a little butter on both sides of the bread, sliced cherry tomatoes and mozzarella...shredded or sliced. Then baked them until the bread was toasted, mozzarella melted and cherry tomatoes piping hot with some burn on the skin. Quick treat...Totally a childhood thing. Edit: I do believe you could get pepperoni as well if you asked, but that was it.
It's nothing like a calzone, but Tacconelli's makes them. They call it Tacconelli's Old Favorite.Basically, but on a hoagie roll, and then toasted to crispy melty perfection. Also, no other toppings. Just a roll, pizza sauce, and shredded mozzarella.
