Truly horrible situation. Over the years on the board I'm pretty sure I've seen some posters from Maine. Possibly either a personal or familial impact from the Portland, Maine having been the Flyers AHL team in the seasons following the Stanley Cups. Pelle Lindbergh won the AHL MVP and ROY with them and I think is still the only goalie to ever do that in AHL history.

So hope anyone and their families are ok after this. Looks like it was an active reserve FIREARMS TRAINER who had very recently been hospitalized for mental issues about 'hearing voices and wanting to shoot up his military base'. Went to bar and a bowling army and carried out this slaughter and appears to still be on the loose.

Sadly it takes 'a lot' to crack the top-10 deadliest mass shootings in US history and with a reported 22 dead that puts it at #8.

I used to live in Maine, in the Portland area. I moved there to be close to my parents who moved there after my father retired. My brother still lives there but he’s farther up the coast in Belfast.

From what I read it sounds like this guy had some serious mental health problems. Hopefully they catch him soon.

I hope the guy drove out into the woods and put a bullet through his head. I know in many cases people want to see the person who carried out the criminal act 'punished', but this guy appears extremely dangerous and at least it means no one else trying to apprehend him, or if he stumbles into a house looking for food or something gets killed.

So Depeche Mode concert was fun but not so sure Philly represented well...crowd was fairly subdued and Gahan made some little playful jabs...even caught him doing a little yawn motion with his hand. But fans picked up some with their more popular songs. Still feel the crowd could have been better....

Hopefully the band returns here. Would love to see them in LA where they have a real strong following..

That's a bummer. One of my favorite bands. Probably has some to do with the crushing Phillies game the night before. Everyone I encountered yesterday was in poor spirit. I probably would have tried to sell my tickets if I had them. I wanted nothing to do with anything yesterday.

Just another day in America. People don't even react to the slaughter of double digit innocent people anymore. It's a broken country in every aspect.

This is endless
Unfortunately yes.

they pulled the plug on my uncles late last night. Then this morning:

Well...the bad news keeps ccoming.Wife's grandmother had a stroke this morning around 9am. Priest was in about 2 hrs ago to read last rights.

And yet the wife worked from 2:30pm yesterday till 4:40am this morning as she was on call and they were doing a long case....sugar baker. She slept from 5:30-11am then was woke when she got the news.

Then left for work again at 1:45. Tough cookie she is.
