My friends

Our outdoor hockey rink needs major, contractor-required repairs and this shit isn't cheap. It's the only rink in our area and we have operated a youth and adult league since the early 2000s! The players and community have chipped in a few grand but it really isn't close to enough for a real resurfacing (not just a resealing) and replacement of the original circa 1980s rotting wooden boards/structures.

If anyone would want to make a world of tangible difference for some fellow, regular person hockey players, it would be so appreciated!

The Lahaina death toll is now at 111 with still over 1,000 missing. It's certainly possible many on that list are between locations, but apparently there's still like 2000 burnt down structures to look through yet so it may rise substantially.

As to the water thing. You would think being RIGHT NEXT TO THE OCEAN that they'd have a system for emergency dispersal. Obviously you're not going to water your crops with salt-water... but if the choice is slowing or stopping a fire and 'salting the earth', worry about the fire first. I know there's like water mist type systems to control/stop fires so I would think any kind of rebuild moving forward has something like that installed both on the the periphery and through-out the area.

Supposedly a lot of the victims are children

I was there four summers ago, and noticed then that it wasn't all just vacation homes and timeshares. My gut is well and truly wrenched for these locals. Just completely horrible.
