I have an infuriating ticket selling situation going on right now.
So I sold a pair of tickets for the Luke Combs concert to a guy in a Facebook group a few weeks back with the caveat that the tickets weren't created yet so I can't transfer them yet. It had a countdown of 20 or something days until they were populated.
I took a $50 deposit with the understanding that it was non-refundable in the event that the person decided to not buy the tickets and payment on the balance would be expected when tickets were transferable.
So the weeks go by, I give the guy the guy updates like when the tickets showed up in my account but they weren't yet transferable but i'd keep an eye out on them.
Last Thursday I saw a reddit post that said that the transfer button usually becomes active one week before the show so I let the guy know this. So Friday morning I see it's available and send him a text. I don't get a response until 10:22PM saying "good, they are" and I respond yeah with a screenshot showing that they are. Twenty minutes go by and I say that i'm about to go to sleep so if he sends the money and I don't respond that's why so it's probably best to wait until tomorrow. He likes that message.
Tomorrow comes and I send a text in the morning say that i'm free all day so whenever he's ready. I get a response at 1:24AM on Sunday saying that he's out of town until tomorrow and the he's sorry just seeing the message. I respond when I wake up saying it's all good but does tomorrow mean sunday or Monday and that i'd like to have this all squared away by Tuesday.
Sunday and Monday go by with no responses.
Yesterday I say that I know he's been out of town but I need payment by the end of the day as the tickets became transferable five days ago and the concert is in a couple of days.
I hear nothing.
So this morning I send a text saying that I am relisting the tickets as the lack of responses and payment up to this point tells me that they're no longer interested in the tickets.
What do you know? I get a response. The guy is still out of town, his bank account is locked, he has a "whole situation here," and that he if I want to relist the tickets again then I have to send the $50 back.
I send a response explaining how if he's having all of these troubles he could have said something but he didn't, the tickets can still be bought by him by paying the balance, and that the $50 will be kept as it was protection for me against non-payment.
He then gives a run around about how he can't be dealing with this shit cause he's got kids and he'll be damned if he's out that money.
I provide a screenshot of him saying "how about i send you $50 now and you keep it if I don't buy them" and say the ball is in his court, I have a kid too and i'm not going to risk having to eat the tickets by waiting until the last minute.
He goes on to say that he told me that he was out of town and when he says something he does it and that he's not going back and forth about this because "I don't move like that."
I respond saying he said he'd be home tomorrow which at the latest could have been looked at as monday and that he was on Facebook/Messenger several times yesterday. He could have said anything about these situations and he didn't. I say that he can still buy the tickets by sending the balance but i'm not going to hold them and risk being stuck with them.
"Bruh, did I not just tell you what's going on? So how the hell a payment getting sent?" "Like I said if you putting them back up send my 50 back then if you. It comfortable cool. But I need that"
My response is asking how is that going to get magically fixed then? Would you trust me if I wasn't going to send the tickets until 5:45 on Friday (showtime)? I again explain that i'd keep the $50 if he didn't buy them and as of now you don't have a path to buy them and I still have presented you the option to buy them. I also say that if they sell for more than what we agreed to i'll send the money back but not before then.
No response since.
Am I The Asshole? The concert is on Friday.
