HELLO.

Headphones do not have to be expensive to be good. What did you get?
Sony WH-1000XM4.

Normally, I go in the hundred dollar wired range. You can get damned good headphones there. But phones don't have jacks anymore. Gazing at frequency response charts I saw nothing I liked in the mid range, so I had to jump up here. I was disgruntled to do so. These are worth it. Might be the best headphones I've ever had. It's like I'm hearing Downward Spiral for the first time.

bonus, I've found the GDT song already

I don’t like music enough to spend $350 for headphones.

I like it enough to have my parents do that if they want to. It's not like I'll stop them.

But yeah, I'd be enraged to buy these on my own. All because they stripped our cell phones of headphone jacks

The dirt cheap Apple dongle is actually pretty solid. That's more than good enough to fix any phone issue. It's no substitution for a proper stack, but for <$10, it's amazing.

My wife is seriously into headphones, so I've learned quite a bit about them over the years. Every time she buys something that's too bright, it ends up with me. But it's hilarious watching her with ~700 gram headphones on her head. I don't know how that's not fatiguing. That's almost double the weight of my Aryas and I struggle to get through long calls.

EQ is super easy to do now. Hell, there are databases with presets already made up for you tuned to the Harman Target or whatever you prefer.

So is now a terrible time to buy a car?
Definitely....car makers last 3 years because of supply disruptions to chips etc have focused production on their higher end cars and focused less on producing the more affordable models so if you are not looking to spend an avg of 40k on a new vehicle good luck. Used isn't that much better from what I understand. I won't be in the market for a few more years barring any total loss accidents....have already had two in my life.....trying to avoid a 3rd but not totally in my control of course.

So basically 'cause' a panic and a plunge in bank stocks to be able to then swoop in and buy them up at a cheap price. All of those wealthy investor/financial tv talking heads just basically run stock manipulation scams on a massive scale.

I mean, hell, the president, or whatever, of SVB sold off a shit ton of shares of SVB within the last week or two, so he knew it was coming. They all have access to insider information

Yes. It's a terrible time to buy anything really. Supply of new cars was already short, so prices were already up, and now interest rates suck.

But you have to do what you have to do.

This is why I leapt at a chance to get a car at below national average sale price in a region where that doesn't happen. I'd settled into the reality that we were gonna have to limp my wife's car along for several more years and had to change gears immediately.

Interest rates are gonna be rough and there's no dodging that even if you find a deal, though.

Yeah 3.6M worth of stock was sold amongst the "investors" in the two weeks prior but they were also paying out bonuses.

The thing is that they keep saying the taxpayer isn't paying anything for covering the depositors bc the FDIC insurance fund that the regional banks pay into will be covering it but those banks pass it off on their customers in other ways to make up the shortfall like higher interest on loans and less on deposits etc.

It is all smoke and mirrors when it comes to non traditional banks like SVB that invest in "sophisticated" products and in "sophisticated" aka risky ways especially when they have no cop on the beat to save them from themselves but hey do they really have to worry when ultimately mainstreet covers the losses. Again ...privatize the gains ..socialize the risk.

So much blame to go around from politicians, to gambler bankers to the Fed that has also a regulatory role and abdicates that responsibility and is ultimately deferential to the big banks bc well they are the "system" with all their corrupt practices....and heck the revolving door is a well oiled machine. Look at Barney Frank, Geithner..etc.
