Ya i agree we need two forwards at the trade deadline to be anything again we are playing in our own zone to muchPersonnel just ain't it. Gonna beat that drum til it improves. Vasy isn't the b2b vasy he was. At some point accepting that has to happen. Doesn't mean he's not great, but this is and has been the norm for a couple years. Defense is inconsistent. We need a few bottom six guys that can wear down the opponent. There's no identity to this team. It's a put together idea of a team that is middle of the pack and mediocre. That's the sad reality.
I agree, we got what we deserved but I don't agree that somehow Vasy deserves a pass. You do understand that he is among the highest paid goalies in the league and gets that amount of dough to not be ordinary, right? Tonight he was a bad as the team in front of him.got what we deserved. i'm the #1 vasy hater but this game was some f***ing bullshit and blaming it on the goalie is just a joke. them gifting us 2 goals is the only reason it looked close.

Eh, better in the standings (for now), but Tampa dominated them earlier 3-0. I wouldn't call the Caps clearly "better" than Tampa overall. This team consistently coughs up leads. Really can’t figure out if they are any good this season. Have some juice but is the D really any better? Doesn’t seem that way.
Washington totally retooled on the fly and now they are better than the Lightning on the ice and in the standings
I would try some different d-pairs maybe, but if the team wants to be passive and stop attacking after jumping out to leads, this will likely continue. Paul and Chaffee being out also hurts, but scoring wasn't the problem. Vasy also has to be better on a more consistent basis, simple as that if this team has any hope of making another run. Cooper isn't the problem, he can't force the team to give a crap and stop being lazy, he can only stress the message. It's worked a few times when they've stated aggressive, but not enough yet this season. I guess the beatings will have to continue until morale improves lol. We're inconsistent and heading for slightly better than middling, eighth seed, first round bounce material. Again. Personally, I think the roster is better than that.
Hmm, what to do?

I disagree that Cooper isn't the problem. He may not be the whole problem but he doesn't get a pass. Not a chance. And as I've said so many times, you can have the best message in the world but if everyone has heard it 10,000 times, they're not hearing it anymore.I would try some different d-pairs maybe, but if the team wants to be passive and stop attacking after jumping out to leads, this will likely continue. Sure, Cooper does take some of the heat, but he's not remotely close to going anywhere, so those continuing to wish for his dismissal will remain sorely disappointed. There are other ways to try and improve a clearly talented roster. Again though, unless Vasy starts to look like the Vasy that led them to b2b Cups, not much else is going to matter.I disagree that Cooper isn't the problem. They have remained aggressive with leads in games thus season, so who knows what Cooper's message has been. Maybe it's a "shell"strategy, maybe not. Either way, he's not getting fired this season barring some extraordinary circumstances, so there's little point harping on that as being some change that's going to fix the team. They score a goal or two and then stop attacking trying to hold the lead. It worked in 2019 but now Mcdonagh and Hedman are 40 years old and Vasy sucks too so it doesn't work. but Cooper still does it every game so i don't know how you don't see a problem with it guys
