we smoke tampa and then get smoked by tampa. we smoke the sens and then get smoked by the sens. we smoke washington and get smoked by the sens. I wish this team would just decide on one mode and either win or just go for the lotto. This is hard to watch.

Smoke this.

Quinn is a genius according to some around here. The guy has proven nothing.
You can’t be serious. He’s one of the youngest coaches in the league. He’s also straight from college (which rarely happens), and there’s a learning curve. We are either rebuilding or just starting to be competitive. No credible source expected us to make the playoffs before the season began.

Proven nothing? What do you expect? He is extremely young and only has one year and 20 games under his belt. He was brought in to develop players. Look at Buchnevich, DeAngelo, Lindgren, Chytil, Kakko, etc. Smith is another example of a player Quinn transformed, albeit older. Look at how we played against the Capitals, Sabres, Lightning (the first time we played them), and other good teams. The structure works. And this is mostly without a true 1C (and arguably without a true 2C). This is still a very young team with a very young coach. They’re going to be inconsistent, even if the structure works. And a lot of the issues are on defense, which to me is on Ruff. But then again, sometimes we look great defensively.

Disagree. The Leafs are a bunch of young kids with bloated salaries who have nothing to play for, and Dubas is obsessed with acquiring more offensive pieces, instead of getting pivotal role players in the line up.

Babcock was canned because Dubas built a soft team, and paid 20 year olds lifetime contracts when they didnt prove a thing.

Trust me, they will make the playoffs again and lose to a team like Boston or Washington in the first round again, regardless who their coach is.

Quinn is a clone of Babcock. Not getting rid of Quinn for the same thing.

We’re a 500 team without Mika. That’s really what we are. If we show up and score goals we generally win. If we fall behind early it’s impossible for us to come back because we keep giving up goals.

Babcock was canned because he wouldnt put players in a position to succeed. He is stubborn and has a God complex and will make poor decisions just to try and prove a point. Wouldnt hire him to coach a rock fight.

What structure? This is an atrocious defensive team. They give up a million shots a night.

I mentioned that our issues are mostly defensive, which to me is on Ruff. But we’ve had maybe 5 or so games against good teams where we’ve dominated. So when players follow the structure, it works. It’s just that this team is young.

You might want to get used to it because this is the way it's going to be all year. This team is stupid and very young.

Absolutely sucks that I missed the last game but from what I read here, they played with an edge and that helped in winning the game.
Why not continue the trend and bring that into this game especially after their last meeting with OTT?
All I'm seeing here is the same old bs where the system lacks structure and FWD's can't get back in time on D.
Wash, rinse, repeat..

What exactly changes from game to game?
Is it that they run a marathon in one game then just don't have the steam to replicate the effort in the next game?
Are they just tuning out DQ and play for themselves to prove they can hang against certain teams?

What exactly is the problem here?

Please don't tell me it's a young team.
You don't need vets to play defense.

OTT is starting to piss me off..I just don't get it..

Why is everyone ****ting on Babcock

Toronto management makes everyone on the Rangers look like Bill Torrey
The reason people are down on Babcock are as follows:
1) Very stubborn. Makes zero adjustments. In the playoffs he continuously put hyman on the ice when he was playing with one leg.
2) Refusal to give Matthews more ice time. One of the beat players in the league getting 6 minutes a game.
3) Double shifting a fringe NHLer in the final game of the year(Marleau) instead of giving impact players ice time.
4) double shifting Cody Ceci. A player that Ottawa didn’t even want.
5) calling out his players in the media after every game.
6)lastly he thinks he’s god. Guy won a gold medal with the most stacked team of all time. He has one cup in 30 years.
