Babcock is an awful coach, if he couldn't coach the leafs what is he gonna do with this team. He is a stubborn old goat who would put Smith on the top line.

This is true. It would be less noticeable with a better team in front of him though. I think there’s too much hyperbole on both sides of the Hank thing. He’s not finished and horrible like some say and he’s also not perfect anymore like the other side says. And both sides exaggerate their arguments more and make their points more hyperbolic than they should be because the real truth is in the middle.
Hank is still good, an above average who would be putting up great numbers behind a good Team right now in my opinion but he’s not great anymore and can’t elevate a bad team on his own.
It’s just super annoying when every goal is so micro-analyzed and turned into a referendum on Hank as a whole instead of it just being a bad goal or a goal caused by bad defense or whatever the case may be. The team is young and struggling and growing, it’s not like we’re cup contenders and really good and our goalie is sinking us or anything. We have goalies literally facing the hardest workload in the league behind a young and bipolar team. There’s gonna be some leaky stoppable goals, not everything is in a vacuum.

This is a young team but I think it’s a really poorly coached team.
I think Quinn is good at getting these kids to develop into point producers and that’s great. But I don’t think he has any idea how to keep them in any kind of structure.
having said that when you have Strome playing the mins he’s playing when you have Howden playing the mins he’s playing. When you have Skjei and Hajek struggling this badly tonight. You aren’t going to win.

I was about to say cut it down to 3 lines this period but I only got enough for 8/9 players to use at all. We really need Mika back.

He definitely wasn't IMO. The Leafs changed their systems over the summer—along with hiring Dave Hakstol (lol.) They have not been playing to their strengths at all this season.
Even with all that talent they've been almost as bad as the Rangers defensively, and their entire O-zone system was taking point shots.

Disagree. The Leafs are a bunch of young kids with bloated salaries who have nothing to play for, and Dubas is obsessed with acquiring more offensive pieces, instead of getting pivotal role players in the line up.
Babcock was canned because Dubas built a soft team, and paid 20 year olds lifetime contracts when they didnt prove a thing.
Trust me, they will make the playoffs again and lose to a team like Boston or Washington in the first round again, regardless who their coach is.

Make 3 good lines from the players we have available right now. You get a mediocre top 6 and a 4th line third line. Mika helps our depth a lot.

we smoke tampa and then get smoked by tampa. we smoke the sens and then get smoked by the sens. we smoke washington and get smoked by the sens. I wish this team would just decide on one mode and either win or just go for the lotto. This is hard to watch.
