See I am Fijian-Indian, in our culture, Men and Children ate first and you sit on the floor or wherever and eat. Then the women would eat last. No idea why, it was stupid as shit, but that's how everyone in my culture grew up.

I honestly don't know. My girl refuses to eat at the kitchen table. The conversation goes like "wtf are you doing? The TV isn't there. The eating table is in the living room"

Grown up tables/kids tables are more a Thanksgiving or holiday type thing where they have more people than room at the main table, so there is a certain symbolism when someone moves from the kids table up to the adults.
