7.8 magnitude earthquake in South East Turkey. :amazed:

Metro area is 2.1 million people with reports of entire buildings collapsing.

This is going to be one of the deadliest natural disasters of all time...
There have been two earthquakes this century with death tolls over 200,000. The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake caused tsunami's that led to almost 1/4 million deaths... Then Haiti in 2010 had an Earthquake which the government there estimated a death toll over 200,000... But it could be inflated.

Haiti's never really recovered from that. They got a massive hurricane hit about 4 or 5 years later and the country now is basically like some kind of post-apocalyptic anarchy zone with gangs controlling different parts of it and no actual functional government.

Shit felt as far as Greenland and Tsunami warnings were posted in places like Italy....even heard an earthquake of about 3 was measured in Buffalo of all places....

Hopefully, it doesn't cause some kind of ring of fire cascading effect globally as supposedly it has disturbed a lot of fault lines...

I wonder is it better or worse for a massive earthquake to happen during the night? In terms of apartment buildings that collapsed? worse. In terms of commercial buildings/offices or schools that collapsed (but were empty because it was at night)_ and possibly freeways/bridges you would think its better?

Turkey had a 7.5 aftershock 4 hours ago. That aftershock by itself would have been the largest earthquake in the area this century.

As someone who MUST get the middle seats 2/3 of the way up……remember the time where you’d just show up 20 minutes early and get whatever seat you f***ing wanted? Am I the only one who misses the simplicity of that?

I go back and forth on this.

For something that's a regular movie theater, I 100% agree with you, especially on just getting there on time.

However, for something like Movie Tavern, I do kind of like being able to pick where I'm going to sit (last row of the bottom section), especially since there's more people moving around throughout the movie.
