My wife’s grandfather was an old peasant farmer who was a POW during WWII. He regularly ate “bread soup” — which is simply a bowl of red wine with pieces of stale bread in it, served at room temperature. So cereal is obviously a soup.
I’m pretty sure I know the answer here but he wasn’t eating that while a POW was he?

He might have. He was a working prisoner on a farm, I guess because he had experience running his own farm in France, so he might have had access to some table wine, but I watched him eat it a few times in the early 00’s when he was in his 90s.
