Mid to late 90's was not more entertaining unless you liked the fights and blind-sided hits. You'd think with all the high level talent in the league it would have been but the NHL rewarded the checkers in spite of the skill.

Well for me it was moreso the fact that actual rivalries seemed more common, nowadays it's to much business to little feelings. The fighting probably had something to do with it but for me it seems the players don't have(or atleast don't show) the same kind of passion. Also I think I enjoyed the game more without the forced parity, made for much more interesting story lines, rise and fall of empires so to speak(now every other game/series is an upset to the point where it just feels totally random).

But I might very well be wrong and the change might just be how I percieve things, will never know I suppose.

1. What are your earliest hockey memories?
I was born in Southern California and hockey simply didn't exist as part of the zeitgeist. Once in a great while I'd catch isolated clips or short glimpses and wonder about this fascinating but totally alien game and wonder why nobody ever talked about it. I then moved to a cold weather state where it actually still had no traction among the locals, but then I started seeing it on television.

2. If you had the ability to time travel and witness (live and in-person) ANY single game or event in hockey history..what would it be?
1954 Stanley Cup Finals, Game 7 (and 1950 as well, but presuming I didn't have foreknowledge of the outcome, 1954 would be even more intense)

3. If you could spend 1 hour talking to and interviewing ANY player in hockey history, who would it be?
Gordie Howe. Based on everything I know he's also a strong candidate for "probably would have been my favorite player had I been able to watch him during his era."

4. Who is your single favorite player of all-time? Pick just one!
Steve Yzerman. Many others also come to mind, but the guy was larger than life.

5. Name one player you personally consider highly overrated historically, and one player you consider highly underrated historically. Could be in terms of the HoH or just generally speaking.
Over: Sidney Crosby, recent stars in general
Under: Gilbert Perreault, top goalies relative to top skaters (based on a recent discussion, John Ogrodnick isn't a terrible answer either, obviously not as great a player as Perreault but gets so little mention at all)

6. If you could watch full-game replays of any and all games from one specific NHL season in history..which season would you choose?
1988-89

7. Name a player you barely knew anything (or nothing) about before joining HF Boards and the HoH, but you now respect as an all-time great and an important part of history?
Frank Nighbor is the best example, but so many other pre-WWII players as well.

8. You’re coaching a team in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals and it’s overtime. You could have any goaltender in hockey history in your crease, who do you choose?
Terry Sawchuk, who actually faced this situation and prevailed (if I can't have the peak version, Billy Smith).

9. Same as above. Game 7, Cup finals and OT. Which single player in hockey history do you trust the most with the puck on his stick in that moment to win the game for you?
Wayne Gretzky. There are so many clutch scorers you could go with but I think it has to be Wayne, he was an assassin.

10. As a GM, which non-star player would you ALWAYS try to have on your team? Could be a do-it-all utility forward, a heart and soul grinder, or a rock solid D etc..which player in history would you always try to make sure was a part of your clubs no matter how many teams you managed?
Esa Tikkanen, for reasons already capably explained by mrhockey193195, plus of course TikiTalk...
