I think everyone thought Laf was pencillee for line 1 and Kakko line 2 this year

i dont mind going with the kid line. they were our best line again. it makes sense to me to try to find 3 lines that all have the ability to take over shifts and produce. if krav can settle in on that line with panarin and troch and we can find a fit as a 3rd w/ mika/kreid we can maximize how deep and balanced we can be. chytil/krav/xxx is not a line that will have any trust from gallant and i'm not sure how effective chytil and any 2 of anyone else could be defensively or have any consistency in generating chances and chipping in meaningful production

and krav has been fine. he was working hard, have to keep in mind that line is gonna run through panarin and troch to a lesser degree. when panarin is throwing pizzas all night putting up a dash 3 and a handful of turnovers i wouldnt expect much from krav - maybe at some point, but not yet for sure.

and the ice time thing is so overblown...kid line got same es toi as top 2 lines and i believe most 3rd period toi, were used 4 on 4, were given decent time as pp2, kakko/laf were part of extra attacker offensively. theyre being treated fairly.

lineup and lines didnt make us bad tonight. being a turnover machine with stupid passes did, goaltending did, the bottom pair on d did, a lot of top guys looked like they were playing a preseason game.

not directing this at you but a lot of sentiment here seems to be outrage and theres just absolutely no reason for that right now. this team is good.

On one hand, you have Vitaly Kravtsov who despite playing like absolute hot garbage is someone you absolutely need to develop this year if you want to put together a Cup-contending roster.

On the other hand, you have Julien Gauthier who won’t light up the scoresheet, but will light up the goaltender LTIR sheet, and this team needs to face backup goaltenders to succeed.

Decisions, decisions.

don't even care that he's done not much in pre-season, you really need Kravtsov to succeed, at least be useful. i'd give him more chances than he deserves, honestly.

none of the "depth" fighting for spots are worth playing anywhere near the top 9. if he sucks we have the worst RW depth in the league. it's just what it is.

Right, we are going to run Kravtsov off so Dryden Hunt can make the team.

Kravtsov can continue to do nothing for weeks.

Which he won't, but some people like to dogpile him.

AHA! Solution time!

Scratch Kaapo Kakko, and play both Kravtsov and Gauthier.

on the one hand Kravtsov looked terrible. On the other hand, has any rookie wing looked good for more than a few games playing with Panarin? Is it too much to ask a kid whose been playing with khl caliber talent to mesh with a player who zags when everyone else zigs? I think Kravtsov should be given more opportunities and maybe one on a different line. I think he’s looked better with Chytil and other players than he has with Panarin. I’m not saying that won’t ever work, but it takes time and experience to sort out how to play with Panarin. Only Strome ever figured it out. Even Tro is totally confused. And he needs to focus on staying in his feet. Just me or did he go down a lot, tonight? In any case, Bread is a special talent but super hard to adjust to for quite a few players. Kravtsov should get a shot with a different li
combo before the experiment ends.

Forwards basically looked like trash defensively. Too many turnovers and not getting back to help their D, over and over.

3rd D pair was terrible. Other pairs made mistakes

Less loosey goosey play and turnovers

Bruins played a patient and structured game, the Rangers need to get back to that a bit

Not having Fox was easily apparent with how bad some of the breakouts were

To celebrate Kakko's two goals, one of which should have gone to Laf along with his primary assist, and Chytil's 5 shots on goal and otherwise being dominant cycling, this one's for you @GENESISPuck94

Kinda sucks that the 2nd highest cap hit in the NHL needs Ryan Strome to be effective

I was lucky enough to watch this game live, and my big takeaways are that Hajek is shockingly bad, and the rest of the team looks really good. If Igor didn’t have the shits it’s a 5-2 win.

I can’t think of a bad goal really

The 5th goal was defended well and Halak should’ve stopped it, but the 4 before that we’re not his faul imo. He made some real good saves from my angle on the 7th avenue side tonight

The defending was awful. Blais looked good this game so I hope he gets another look on the top line. Panarin line will hopefully get their stuff together soon. Kid line looked great as expected.
