so after reading whatever it was that was being argued, you are in fact correct. They upheld the initial major call which was the Steinberg hit, the McDonagh hit wasnt called a penalty originally and wouldnt have been reviewed until Coop said something. Im pretty sure Engblom mentioned that any reviewed major that wasnt originally called can only be held as a major or no call at all. The whole double minor review thing is also correct but is not comparable to a 5 minute major that was completely missed.

The Av's broadcast and Mishkin also said it had to be a major or nothing, and then the ref said "no major so no penalty". I mean, I don't know how much more evidence is needed to convince someone, but some people just wanna be jerks I guess.

It’s not that hard to look things up, guys. Coop cannot call for a penalty review. He can talk to them and convince them all ex-lawyerly, but cannot initiate it. They called 2 majors. In order to review the second one. They reviewed both. Both were penalties called be the refs. It was confusing because they called the first major and then there was a break before they called the second. Ostensibly because of the injury, and more likely because cooper was jawing at their ear.

Majors can be reviewed, can be reduced to a minor, and can be waived (as we saw).

You have to read the wording "Confirming his original major penalty call". Cant confirm a call that was never made to begin with. I also never said Coop can call a penalty review, just that he said something that got them to review it to see if there was another major penalty which they deemed wasnt worthy of a major penalty so they waived it completely.

That’s the thing, they had to call it. You can’t review it unless they call it. So they had to call it to review it. Unless they pulled some shit, which is obviously plausible. But the rules are there that constrain what can be reviewed. You can’t review a minor, and you can’t review an arbitrary play. They called the second major.

I think they generally missed the other hit. Cause if you look back at it, they were only calling the Steinberg hit until Coop called the ref over to the bench.
