Eh, I bet he did join with the idea of "years of development and then we start competing" so he's probably not lying, but it makes it sound like they had all the pieces when he was hired and they just needed to "cook" a bit first, which isn't true
Yeah, that’s definitely what he meant. But the specificity of “four years” is so convenient that it comes off as him saying “it’s not my fault we weren’t good! This was always part of the plan”.
He should have just said “we were a young, developing team that was going to get more competitive over time”. He just sounds like an idiot lol. Like this team’s success was catapulted forward by like 3 years by sheer luck and some savvy moves in the summer of 2019, a year after he joined.
