Not going to argue with you about that, but I remember when we did that too. It sucks, but the youth were all we had to get excited about. The other thing is that players like Hall, RNH, and Yakupov are all victims of the CHL's black hole. Too good to be in the CHL, but really need to be playing a level down with the men. Also, Edmonton has got to do what LA did and bring in a bunch of character vets on retirement contracts. The formula for success is out there, every fan on this board knows it because we've analyzed Lombardi to death over it.

I am sympathetic because I have lived through that and now that I see a better system up close, I can't believe I ever thought that what the Oilers are doing is even remotely intelligent. Heck, at this point if we drafted the second coming of Doughty I'd probably be advocating that he spend 3 years earning his way up to the NHL. Look what it's done to TT.

I'll freely admit to not knowing much...

But watching the draft really had me thinking. Being 1st overall seems horrible. Like hell yeah, your a badass.... Go to a terrible team with no development. Such a waste?

I feel like I would WAY rather be drafted to a team with strong development. Would top players almost necessarily have the drive to really want to go anywhere other than a team with a lottery pick?
 
This line is just unreal, I thought people were crazy when they said to split it up or that Toffoli and Pearson would struggle.

The chemistry with those three is amazing.
 
From the main board:
Oilers down 3-0 after 15 minutes. Prior to the T.V. timeout, Fasth skates to the bench without provocation/action from Eakins, and starts yelling at Scrivens. Scrivens acts surprised, grabs his helmet, and is in net by the time the game returns from commercial. Fasth was also yelling down the bench in the direction of Eakins, but I couldn't tell if it was directly at him.

It certainly looked like he pulled himself. Eakins, meanwhile, appeared to say nothing. Then again, that seems to be his M.O.

Great 1st period by the Kings, 70s line is just unreal right now.

Looks like Andreoff got some pretty good wheels on him. Granted it might be adrenaline from making his NHL debut but it's a promising sign.
