I know he didn't have the best period, but Kakko starting to look less timid out there. Hope DQ doesn't cut his TOI.

Damn, you type hella fast. What about McKegg? What happened to him? And regardless, Lias should not be on the same line with an enforcer and a washed up d-man who plays the wing now. Smith and Haley have been pretty good for what they are, but I want to see Lias with more offensive line mates.
McKegg is scratched. I'm speaking in the here and now.

You're not wrong in the long run but I don't think Andersson plays more than 20-25 games on the 4th this year. Chytil did his time there too and got top-6 mins the rest of the year despite not really deserving them particularly often.

he had a few good games before this, his leash is longer than you or most people would like. he'll have at least another period to work things out.

if he's garbo the 2nd period too and Lias is flying I imagine you'd see a change in the 3rd.

Fair enough. I wouldn’t suggest it be a long term shift based on one period either. Just tonight one has looked hungry and one poor. I wouldn’t mind just seeing Lias get a half game with some talent around him.

Again, can’t really argue with anything you said there. Didn’t really think about McKegg being scratched.

Agreed, he had one of his stronger periods of the year aside from the penalty.

chytil looked good too
If KK can work on his conditioning and accept his limitations — which I think he will — he’ll be fine. Finally starting to see that “something”: puck handling and size a la Foppa / Hossa.

I think most coaches roll with the lines that were practiced with the at least the first two periods unless things are comically out of hand.

It's probably a good practice. For everyone who complains kids are scared to make a mistake cause Quinn Bin(R), Strome is still only like 25 or 26. You can't have it both ways.

Boy ... video game graphics have come a long way. Remember when FIFA 99 was “amazing”? What about the face-gen feature in NHL 2000?

Nice to see AV losing. Even if it means Pittsburgh winning.

I’ll always choose Pittsburgh over Philly.

Really liked Chytil and Lindgren, as well as Fox and Andersson that period. Lemieux too. Kaako had his deficiencies but also starting to show some flashes of his skill and pedigree.
