Uh, compile respectable bottom-6 point totals while playing effective defense and killing penalties? Laughton is ideally a fourth liner, but he's a much better player than Vorobyev at this point. Voro is more KHL than NHL, to me.

I think Misha is a better fit with JVR than Laughton, that's for sure. Maybe they can rekindle that chemistry they showed early last season before JVRs injury? I'm not going to die on this hill though.

I am going to die on that hill. It nearly kills me every time someone talks about him. We'll never see it here, though, and North America will probably never see it. We ****ed that one up. And by "we" I of course mean ****ing Hakstok.

I'm also of the opinion that one of Bunnaman/Twarynski will fizzle out entirely in no time and be replaced with a handsome, talented youth.

I realize barely anyone agrees with me, but yes. Laughton has been here so long he, sort of, just blends into the background. Like an ugly, uncomfortable chair at your grandparents house. You just shrug and accept that even though the chair kinda sucks, it's been here forever and does serve some purpose. So you keep it instead of trying a new chair.

Then the old chair gets a 2 year, 2.3m a year deal.

Now we're getting into ridiculous judgments.

I mean Laughton was the #20 pick, put up 21 ES points at 21, was sent down to work on his defense, came back up at age 23, put up 19 ES points in 4th line minutes (9:59 a game), then last year had 30 ES points playing 3LW, 3C and 4C (12:26) with a revolving cast of linemates, most of them limited offensively. Also became a solid PK forward.

He's all of 25 years old, but people would replace him with a 23 year old center (Misha) who has been nothing special in the AHL and flopped in his NHL cameo?

I don't think Laughton is a franchise player, but he's a pretty solid middle six veteran at an age where there is still significant upside left.

No it wasn't, and this is an important point. People were trying to shut down debate and that's never a good idea unless you are trying to get Jeff Hakstok fired. There have been plenty of red flags and plenty of things to question, including the hirings themselves. Being optimistic is one thing - acting like people are crazy for not being optimistic (which is what happened for four months) is bull****.

Ahoj! That‘s a kind offer. Anyway I have been to Praha several times, even dating back to the 80s. Saw Sparta Praha playing in Gottwaldov e.g. because my parents have friends in Uherské Hradištê. Our accomodation will be outside of Praha and we will drive back to that place after the game.
