With his 4 goal night against the Jets, Kopitar has now amassed 1124 career points. Passing Darryl Sittler for 63rd all time.

Next up Mike Bossy and Joe Nieuwendyk

61. Mike Bossy 1126
62. Joe Nieuwendyk 1126
63. Anze Kopitar 1124
64. Darryl Sittler 1121
Only 81 points from being in the top 50. If Kopi has another few good years he may crack the top 50 easily. Always thought all these players had more points but Kopi will fly by them real fast.

Depending on where he ends up this season he could easily hit the 1300 pt mark.. imagine what his point total would have been if he had his own version of Hossa, Marchand/Pastrnak or even Kessel.. and yet some on here laugh when I said, had Kopi had star talent around him he would be there with Malkin points wise! I think he’d be around 1300 pts right now

We won cups with AM and DS's type systems, but could you imagine if Kopitar played his prime years under McClellan's style? He'd be way up that list.

The amount of points he's put up while playing Selke level defense is mind boggling. It's crazy to say this, but he could well be one of the best two-way centers in the last 50 years. I mean, Fedorov was named one of the best 100 NHL players in history, and Anze is right there with him despite playing on defensive minded teams with minimal offensive support.

You wanna know something funny…
Everyone and their mothers claims that Bergeron is the best defensive forward ever.. yet if you look at the stats they base it on, Kopitar has been the better defensive forward and doing so while playing with inferior/worse defensive teammates.

When you mix in the very obvious East Coast bias and the good ole Canadian boy aspects.. you get a criminally underrated guy like Kopitar, who gets called steady Eddie but that’s just half ass attempt by writers who are snoring by the time the puck drops on the West Coast.

With 3 points against the Avalanche, The Great King has now amassed 1128 career points. Passing Joe Nieuwendyk and Mike Bossy for 61st all time.

Next up Bernie Federko.

58. Nicklas Lidström 1142
59. Marian Hossa 1134
60. Bernie Federko 1130
61. Anze Kopitar 1128

Imagine Kopi having another 90 pt year, but this time he’s assisted with huge offensive depth at even strength and on the power play. Makes his Hart run in ‘18 tragically underrated.

I still stay he was the rightful MVP in 2018.

I know I'm biased, but just can't see how Kopitar wasn't more valuable than Hall that year.

Hall won because he plays for NJ.

Not a bad career for a 7th draft pick. He can play for the next 3 seasons without doubt and I can see it, he enjoy very much. Elite sniper and a young talent on his line is big part of it.

Truly underappreciated by so many for so many years.

Underappreciated outside of LA, not so in LA.

But that's long been the story of this team. Dionne was #2 on the all-time scoring list until Gretzky came along and in the "greatest of all-time" discussions Marcel never even gets an "honorable mention", not then and certainly not now.

He gets underappreciated by some in LA, too. Despite being 35 years old, he's only 7 points behind 26 year-old Fiala, and some are still saying he's a passenger.

For many years people have said he's not a leader, he's a quitter, would get nicknames like "Floatpitar", saying the Kings would have been better off trading him instead of re-signing him to an extension.

Granted, I know it's a vocal minority, but the lack of appreciation is local too.

He would already be well inside the top 50 without his annual mid-season vacations.

Getting awful close to passing Luc for 2nd all-time for points in a Kings jersey. Still has an outside chance to pass Dionne for 1st (little less than 200pts away). Looks like he's just 16 assists away from setting the franchise record in assists.

EDIT: Researching this post was fun. Who knew Mathieu Garon was 9th all-time in Wins as a King for goalies. Or that Peter Budaj and Martin Jones are tied (along with someone named Gerry Desjardins) for 8th in SO's. Fun times. That half year of Garon and Jason Labarbera being an elite duo in net was fun, those were the days lol...
