When was the last time we won a game 1-0? I honestly can't remember it happening.

Edit: Ok, we actually did it against the Sens last year....have to go back to '10-11 for the next one though.

I'm not really giving him the credit, but that's his ideal defensive game.

That's ANYONE'S ideal defensive game. 21 shots? Take that every time.

And my point was, Canes were scoring at a nice clip last year when everyone was healthy. The system hasn't changed.

I don't know if you guys in the Triangle are getting this ad but here in Charlotte they are running something for Carolina Federal Credit Union with a girl who has a deep southern accent.

The commercial is so hilariously poorly scripted.

Limiting the Islanders offense to a handful of legit scoring chances is pretty impressive stuff. D was just smothering all night long. Perfect game for the situation.

Good thing that on talent, Cam is still the number one.

Peters was good tonight but he was bailed out by the defense with all those rebounds he gave up.

Boring ass ****. We are the NJ Devils.

If this keeps up attendance will further decline. A win is nice and all but last I checked entertainment is part of the selling point of this sport.

Last I checked, most home fans would prefer a boring win than an exciting loss. This team has had too many of those losses and "moral victories".

If we have to win every damn game 1-0, so be it. At the end of the season, 2 points is 2 points.

A defensive team that makes the playoffs consistently is going to draw more of a crowd than an offensive one (in both context of the word) that finishes 9th

Watching a Canes team move the way they did tonight is hardly boring. It was easy on the eyes.

Although they can do boring all right.

I'm not a home fan so I know I don't count, but I don't want a boring win. I'll take an exciting loss over it any day. Weve won a cup so I don't feel like we need to do whatever it takes to squeak into the playoffs. I want an up tempo team that plays aggressive and plays to win.

Luckily, I love in Colorado! At least I get to see someone play the way I like.

All I know is that after a decade of watching defensive mistakes that make you want to break things (and occasionally have), it's nice to finally have a couple games where the defense is the star.

In fact, I can't remember the last time this team put two games in a row where they won solely because of their defense. Obviously, there wasn't much in the way of offense tonight or against Philly, and while Peters was good, the defense really made it easy for him.

Usually when we have opponents scoring as little as they have been, it's either been because whatever goaltender we had in net at the time managed to survive a 45 shot onslaught or our offense scored 4 goals in the 1st and the opposing team went on cruise control from there.

Eh, one of the topics before this one was discussing Eric as a Magic card. Something about having LaRose be Tap: Untap target Staal.

It was around the time of the Philly game....I think

Edit: Before the Tampa game. My bad.

I see both sides of the coin (playing exciting hockey vs. winning), but right now, with their top scoring threat (Skinner) out and their 3rd string goalie, they really don't have a choice but to play this way. They basically have to survive until Khudobin and Ward are back and have a few games under their belt. When they get healthy, hopefully they have the sound defensive play ingrained in them and can open up the offense some as well and we'll have the best of both worlds.
