Kessel was pretty much blameless there.

Also, difficult to take a penalty on a PP.

It doesn't matter if he's blameless the message needs to be sent. No one touches Ryan, if you go near him you're gonna pay.

You protect the goalie. Intentional, unintentional, it makes no difference. Touching the tender is grounds for pummeling. Always.

Meh, it was a nice play that gets finished more times than not. The penalty on the other hand was silly.

Kessel's elbow is near Miller's head while he's squared to make a save. Given the team's history, any opportunity to stand up for the netminder is bigger than a possible man advantage.
