Head'n to Tool at UBS tonight. Cant wait to see them play.

link up with @UnSandvich

my dad ended up going even though he wasn’t feeling well so I don’t get to see them this time.

He and I have seen Tool and APC a few times together, but he didn’t know I was moving back to NY when he bought his ticket so he only got one. He’s a huge fan. He’s seen Puscifer as well and I think visited Maynard’s ranch in AZ as well.

In the woods
Pup is one of very few "pop punk" bands I give a pass. They're fun. You might like these guys if you don't know them. They're the shit.

This reminds me a lot of Latterman or late 90’s early 2000’s long island bands. I like it. I also like that you put “pop punk” and I totally get why. Its used as a wrong description for a lot of bands.

i'm an older guy with old-school tastes
(seen <<< Terry Kath at MSG, but not the show he wore NYR sweater)

lately been listening to lots of Paul Kossoff, gone more than 45 years now,
with, and post-Free
guitar nerds (i am not one) rave about his atypical chords and phrasing, i just enjoy his playing and the tunes

a couple current groups FYI:

recently found Born Healer, current UK blues rock with female singer
"Blues rock has more than its fair share of amazing female lead vocalists. Helen Turner has that gravel pitched voice that just reaches into your soul . A voice that’s so full of emotion you could could cut the atmosphere with a knife"

and Blues Pills, current Swedish/American band based in Sweden, also w strong female singer
"..vamp-heavy sound weds 21st century neo-psychedelia, metallic blues, retro soul, and hard rock. "

maybe some folks will like

+1 for the Latterman reference! What a throwback haha, I was a big fan of theirs. I also was addicted to that Dogleg album when it came out, lots of great tracks on there.

I always thought Latterman was an Avail clone. I could be totally wrong, but I only think that because I had heard Avail first.

Built to Spill is SO good live. I wish I felt comfortable going to shows with everything still going on. There's been some good ones coming up.

Same with that Dogleg record. They're a ton of fun.

So some music update:

-Primus put out a new EP yesterday. Will give it a listen this upcoming week.
-Kirk Hammett's EP drops today (Happy RSD by the way!)
-Toro Y Moi is next week
-Warpaint, Kendrick Lamar, !!!, and Cave-In all have albums in May

The biggest news is Viagra Boys who some of us have spoken about here have a new album in July. That's so old school The last album was early 2021 so they probably used pandemic time in Sweden which didn't have shutdown to write and record. I used to love when bands would be active, touring and found a way to sneak into the studio for a few weeks and knock out a new album while their chops and creative juices were actively flowing.
