If they get the first overall pick I might just think the NHL is rigged in more ways than one.

For example, Bedard is a huge Canucks fan and might have stated he only wants to play for them.
You think..... If the Vancouver Canucks... The Canucks... The sports team from Vancouver.... Won the lottery for the first time after 52 years.... The NHL would be.... rigged?

Rebuilding is a long process in the league today. There are no firesales anymore. You trade your UFAs. Maybe a guy signed for the next season, if he's cheap, and you retain 50%. But for the most part, if a season gets away from you, you take the lumps, get the pick, and go from there.

If the league didn't rig it so that Matthews would go to Arizona, they ain't rigging it for anyone. Unless the league did that specifically so that that could be used as the exception to the rule, because Matthews to Ari would be way too obvious, so as to better cover up their nefarious shenanigans. Because before that, Crosby just happened to go to Pit when they absolutely needed him?

How? He's never been PPG+ in his career, and he doesn't even play 1C on his own team. He ranked 24th in the league last year among Centers for points, 32nd among centers for PPG.

This isn't the same NHL as it was 5 years ago where being a 70 point Center was 1C numbers. When you have five different 100 point Centers, fourteen 82+ point and 20 guys over PPG... A 70 point Center especially one that is average or below average defensively(And he is well below average) is not a 1C anymore. Those are the numbers of a 2C.

He is not a proven #1C yet. Also, with every game Byram plays, the concussions become less and less of an issue.

Pettersson is worth more than Byram

And you literally just proved the guys point considering how many teams are in the league.

Well, if not, it would be pretty darn coincidental, wouldn't it!? Statistically impossible, as One might say! Rigged!!

Not only that, but people are saying they use equipment supplied by Dominion Voting Machines, too. That's what they say.

I don’t think they need a full blown rebuild, but definitely need a shakeup. Not a fan of either team, but what about something like this….

To NYI: Miller, Garland

To VAN: Barzal, Clutterbuck (cap purposes), 2023 2nd

Barzal fits the Nucks timeline better, but Miller is the better player and improves the Isles right now (as does Garland).

From there I’d shop Horvat and try to land a 1st+. Embrace the shitty start and tank just one year to land a difference maker in the deepest draft since 2015. If you win the lottery and get Bedard, perfect, but even if you’re in 7-12 range you might land a Rantanen/Meier/Connor type (2015 as a reference).
Vancouver would run with that

I feed bad for the Canucks because, looking at their roster - it's a quality roster. The results just aren't there.

It's not unlike looking at Montreal's roster a season or two ago. It's a well balanced team with good players. They SHOULD be doing better.

JR can mix and match all he wants but he can't physically play for them. This is a players' issue.

Ok............just curious on a rebuild

value wise.....................

Pettersson, Demko and Rathbone to Columbus for Sillinger, Jiricek and Mateychuk
Hughes to NJ for Siegenthaler, Holtz and a 2023-1st
Horvat to Winnipeg for Dubois (both players sign new long term deals)
Miller to Boston for 2023 -1st
Garland to Washington for Eller, 2023-2nd and 2023-2nd
Boeser 50% retained to NYI for 2023-2nd and 2024-2nd

This whole arrangement is a little bizarre. Allvin is the GM (ie the presumptive decision maker), yet here you have JR talking to the media (once again).

You wonder if JR has an end game other than satisfying an urge/need to talk to the media?
That's typically how it works. The President of Hockey Operations is the one who does most of the talking to the media. For instance, for the Penguins, Ron Hextall is the GM but Brian Burke is the POHO and does most of the media interviews.
Do you know who Jim Rutherford is? This is all he ever does.

He loves to stir up drama and run his mouth to the media.
True, but he is typically very straightforward with the media. If he ends up actually saying the Canucks need a rebuild, they'll be in one in no time.
Because before that, Crosby just happened to go to Pit when they absolutely needed him?
Not sure why the league would just give us Crosby when we absolutely needed him when they could've just not have us fall in the two previous draft lotteries and therefore draft Ovechkin.
Also, it's not as though the Penguins were the only team who absolutely needed Crosby.

The concussions become less of an issue because of games played? I don't even care about your part of whether Petterson is proven or not, the fact that you think Byrams head injuries somehow get better because of games played is insane. That's not how brain injuries work. You're always the smartest guy around here, according to yourself, yet you think brain injuries simply get better with more games played. Right.
