I used to think I was sad when the Bruins would lose in the playoffs simply because it meant the season was over.

I now realize I’m sad they lost because I have to read through pages upon pages of Matt Grzelcyk arguments.

Shattenkirk might be a good add in regards to a rugged d man. Would be close to Smith in cap hit. I kind of want to keep Reilly and Stralman as black aces for the playoffs. We will likely need that depth.

Have to agree to disagree. Shattenkirk is well beyond done and was never that type of defenseman. I do want to keep Smith though. Reilly can go on a slowboat to China.

Sweeney has been very good at getting guys re-signed. Pastrnak wants to be here. I just don’t see him leaving.

I’d absolutely see if some gm sees him as chiarot (who is just ruining seider btw) but I can’t see a real nhl team trading an obvious glue guy. I would prefer they look for an upgrade but I can’t see them doing it. Some of it is actually worse than last year tbh. Monty is sheltering him. 52% ozone starts in the last month against low level competition, 42% xG. Brutally bad. Alas.

if things stay as is and they go rentals only my shopping list is

- a big defensemen who can replace either Clifton or Forbort in the lineup.
- a 3rd line RW who could potentially drive offense on that line if there is an injury that needs Hall to move up (I really like the idea of keeping Foligno on that 4th line driving offense and it solves my other want of upgrading Nosek to Frederic on the 4th line)

I’m not going to argue about it - just take a little time to understand the model if you’d like. Market value is if there were no cap.

Every year I say Bruins should make trades. I always say make more to win the cup. This year, as of now no way. Unless it a move to move cap space out or we show a weakness in the next 8 weeks. This team is incredible. They love each other and play as a team like we have never seen before. Nothing is broke and we are a near perfect team.

This team reminds me of the pre-WHA Bruins. Both were/are a juggernaut. Both were fun to watch and entertaining as all get-out. I haven't had so much fun watching them since (before) the WHA stripped the B's of McKenzie, Cheevers, Sanderson, Green and then IIRC, Eddie Westfall was claimed in the expansion draft by the Islanders. A couple years later Espo and Vad for Park, Ratelle, Zanussi followed by Orr leaving. I'm gonna go cry in the basement now.

I think you can get away at going TDL shopping with the Blues...my three targets:

Barbashev (2.25) UFA - Can play any position in the top nine. Led the team last year in hits and has skill to go along with it. Last years 60 point season was an anomaly due to a really high shooting percentage but he goes to all the dirty areas and has cup experience to go along with it.

Acciari (1.25) UFA - What more can I say about Noel than you already know...he would fit on the 4th line like a glove and can slide over to the middle for important center depth. An upgrade on Greer.

Bortuzzo (950k) - Expires in 2024 so you get an extra year with Bortuzzo. He has certainly declined a bit over the years but he is a right shot, physical, PK specialist. He would be the perfect fit as the teams 7th defenseman and could take over the Cliffy role next year if things work out. An ideal fit on the backend.

The contracts add up to 4.45 so that amount would need to be going out in any deal with the Blues. Let's say you add Smith and Reilly to make money work and use one of the 1st round picks in 2023 or 2024. Blues fans think Barbashev is worth a 2nd and Acciari a 3rd. Let's say Bortuzzo is somewhere around a 4th round pick, the value doesn't seem too far off.

I get moving a 1st round pick for someone outside of Patty Kane and Horvat doesn't get anyone excited but they really aren't what the Bruins need at all. I would much rather go to war with some tough SOB's

you can't understand why people aren't suggesting we replace a guy who is 10th in the NHL and 1st on the team in SH TOI per game?

I think even people who recognize Forbort's limitations are realistic about the fact that he fills a role they simply can't afford to replace or upgrade.

Nope only for some. Pretty simple on the ice for more goals for/against. And yes I know sometimes it isn’t fair but over 82 games it works out. Case in point Bobby Orr. Stat shows he was the most dominant player ever. You think it’s a bad stat for a guy like Bergeron?
