So is it influenza sweeping through the team or is it a norovirus ("stomach flu")? I keep hearing "flu" but then Shane mentioned several players throwing up last game and I thought vomiting and diarrhea were symptoms of norovirus more so than the flu? MV can correct me if I'm wrong, but if it is norovirus, I don't think there is any treatment other than hydrating and rest?

To my understanding, it's the norovirus.

I've seen Flu mentioned, but I know the Devils had norovirus recently. Could be noro then. I didn't catch Shane mention vomiting. Nasty stuff if it's Noro.

Measuring stick type game whoever’s in net will have to try and match Hellybuck
Looks like Comrie is in net. You guys catch a break. They always decide to stop scoring when he's in net.

The problem isn't comrie per se it's the team when he's tending. His numbers aren't bad, but he's only got 4 wins in 12 games this season including and 8 game losing streak.
He gets zero run support for whatever reason. In his 8 losses weve scored 2 or less in like 6 of them.

Yeah no real treatment. Comes on suddenly and goes away after about 24 hours just as quickly. By the time any treatment would work, you're already recovering anyway.

But yeah for about 12 hours you end up spraying out both ends, which was suuuuuuuuuuuper fun for me last year when I was dealing with it while flying home from Orlando

Wow you're right. In those 8 games they scored 1 goal 5/8. Which for a team that leads the league in GF/G that's definitely out the norm. Do they play a different style of game in front of him (ie more defensive)? I've seen that lead to teams tanking offense to protect goalies but not having looked into this further I don't know.

Yeah not sure. Might play a bit tighter and take less chances offensively with Comrie in net. Might be something they do subconsciously even. Either way the poor guy damn near needs to pitch shutouts to get wins.

Now would be a great time for the power play to get going.
I disagree.

YES, THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TREATMENT TO NOROVIRUS.

For the first time since that New York road trip, the Canes could be able to ice their regular roster after an illness kept several players out for a game or two over the past week and a half. Juha Jaaska was the only one to miss Monday's practice with the bug, but he was back on the ice with the group on Tuesday morning.

After being recalled from Chicago yesterday, Scott Morrow skated as an extra defenseman on Tuesday morning. Rod Brind'Amour did not confirm if or when Morrow would draw into the lineup but said the young blueliner had at least earned another look at the NHL level.

"Watching him from the start of the season to now, he's getting better and better, and it just felt like it was a good time to give him an opportunity," said Brind'Amour. "How much we play him, I don't know, all that's going to take care of itself. But I think he was deserving to get this opportunity."
