I don’t necessarily even need the good prospect as much as I want the 1st. Give me another chance or two to add this upcoming draft’s Chytil, Miller or Lundkvist, and I’m good to go.

I'll venture a guess that the approach might be the opposite for the potential Zucc/Hayes trades.

With Zucc, I think there's probably more wiggle room on the prospect and more emphasis on the pick.

With Hayes, I think there's probably more emphasis on the prospect and more wiggle room on the pick(s).

Is there a prospect that you think the Rangers are eyeing in a deal for Hayes? Adam Fox would be the obvious one from Carolina. I was high on Vesalainen in his draft year. Do you think someone like Kaut from Colorado would be the preference over a 1st for Hayes?

I'm really glad Zucc has changed his mind about staying here.

I certainly didn't want him to stay, I just want what makes him a happy man.

And now when he agrees to a trade it should be easier for Gorton to get it done, a trade could be imminent.

If I'm another team, would I trade a 1st for Zucc? No way.

Adding a prospect on top? No way. If a team trades even a 1st to the NYR for Zucc then we know which GM (Besides Sather and Sweeney apparently) looks at a stat sheet or a name and nothing else. If the GM's do their homework then I think a 2nd + is what we're getting or a single good prospect.

I wouldn't be shocked if we got a 1st but man, he is so not worth it. Same as Nash last year.

He never had a choice. His feelings about it were never a factor in Gorton making a deal. Him saying this doesn't change anything about the timeline.

I agree, he's probably not that player anymore. Fortunately, there are plenty of GMs who will think a 50-60 point guy who has a lot of playoff experience and is known as a leader can push their team over the top. Or, that this guy, when coupled with some awesome young center the likes of which we have never had, can be an even bigger point producer, and turn their team into a contender. The allure of getting over the hump and winning some playoff games or the idea that this one guy could win us that Cup finally is enough to make GMs give up those firsts. I think that's what it was with BOS/Nash--they thought he was a piece that would reinforce their ship enough to navigate to the end.

It's hard to say at this point.

I really don't think the Jets even consider moving Vesalainen at this point. I'm not sure the Avs move Kaut.

I could see a team like Minnesota being interested, same for the Avs, Flames and Sharks.

Would those teams consider names like Kunin or Fox? I don't have a clear idea yet.

It was published less than 30min ago on Aftonbladet, so i doubt that, atleast i havnt seen it in the thread.

It was published yesterday on nitten.no by journalist Roy Kvatningen, the Norwegian version of The Athletic, you have to subscribe. So it's kinda hard to provide a link from that site. Kvatningen is in NY these days to cover this, sounds like something is about to happen.

I also think he has some international cache...I would think someone like Malkin would vouch for him if Rutherford came to him.
