Blowing up a guy's head with a late blindside hit isn't much worse? Was the guy McDavid crosschecked injured? Rasmussen looks like he was concussed.

BS. One was a heat of the moment situation where a player lost control, the other is a deliberate attempt to injure.
Really? It looked like a blatant and unprovoked headshot. Wasn't even close to being a legit bodycheck that rode up on the opponent, or something done in the heat of a puck battle. That is a classic predatory hit aimed at the head.

mcdavid also had a prior suspension. zegras had no history outside of a fine for slashing. 3 games for crosschecking a guy in the head was absolutely justified

In a weird way is this a good thing for Zegras's rep? Nobody thought of him as being a physical player prior to this. I can see a guy like Guerin loving Zegras's transition from a highly skilled scorer to a cheap shotting, unproductive, bottom sixer. Watch out, Ryan Hartman!
I think Zegras would have only gotten two games if he got a major and a game misconduct for the late hit.

Definitely deserved a suspension. Man I get a kick out of how much this kid is irrationally hated though. The amount of false narratives that are spun every time his name is mentioned, it's just incredible.

A hit is either clean or the dirtiest hit of the season apparently. Someone called the hit possibly the dirtiest of the season, quite possibly by the person you quoted. A couple Ducks fans said that while it was dirty, that was a stretch. Complete and utter homerism I guess

It's not irrational hate though, he is extremely unlikeable. He is incredibly immature for a professional athlete, and runs himself like a loser frat boy. He really should man up, and start acting like a pro.
There is no denying the skill, I've mocked his production in this thread, but obviously the guy can put up points at this level, but if he doesn't change his pissy attitude, he'll need to learn Russian soon enough.

Lol no this is an exact example of what I'm talking about. A lot of you have just decided this based on the most flimsy of evidence and then spew utter nonsense everytime his name comes up. His teammates love him, he's great in the community, you guys just have this really spiteful false narrative built up and it's not coming from a knowing place.

Whining about refs? A guy threw a hit that was bad enough for a 3 game suspension, any of the 4 officials can call it, review it and knock it down if they have to... and it was still missed. You see how dumb you sound pointing that out as whining about refs?
The Ducks aren't a good team, they employ two of the dirtiest hitters in the league in Trouba and Gudas, and an 8 minute a night hatchetman in Ross Johnston. They're going to consistently be penalized because of the way their team is built, saying missing a blatantly obvious major is whining because the refs did their job most of the game is idiotic

After winning Gold, they brought out a garbage can with Canada's logo on it, do I really need to remind you what your 5.75 million dollar guy did? Sore loser behavior, and that reputation has followed him to the NHL.

There is literally never a reason to crosscheck someone up high.
Zegras deserves his suspension but it's hilarious that this hit is viewed as an intentional act to injure, but a crosscheck to the face gets a pass, because he was mad. lol

Lol I'm Canadian and that "incident" from a junior tournament five years ago is a complete nothing burger, a poor excuse for still hating the guy.

Well I mean, you already know why I am "currently" talking about him, its the chicken shit dirty headshot. What is almost worse is his reaction to it, immediately trying to justify it. Hope he reflects a bit on his career during the next 3 games. Would be a shame for such a talented player to not live up to his rookie hype, because that is exactly what is happening.
