Yup, I've heard the same chatter on my Twitter account - the ECHL "assignment" is probably paper only. The Glads play at home Saturday, and he was officially moved Friday afternoon. Doesn't mean he COULDN'T get there in time to play.

He also hasn't played in two and a half weeks if my math/memory is right. Maybe coaching staff in Providence wants to see him practice first before getting back into playing...and maybe they want to see more of Vladar before he heads back to Atlanta. None of that can be done sensibly until Providence comes home.

When are we going to give this guy another shot? He's been lights out in Providence and Dobin has not inspired much confidence at all with his play this year.

I liked him in the games I saw him play in the show this year. Lightning-quick reflexes and made some incredible saves against the Habs in our 3-2 loss. Really, what do we have to lose?

I think you will see him right after the Xmas break. I can see Rask play the next 3-4 games in a row so no sense having McIntyre sitting on the bench when he can play in Providence.

McIntyre in the expansion draft if he proves it at the NHL level.

I do think its worth the risk, but, we can't act like its a complete no brainer.

Fair point. What are the max number of games he can play without being subject to exposure?

McIntyre is exempt no matter how many games he plays. He's a second year pro and they are exempt

That's excellent news; thanks for the info. I'd imagine/hope he'll be called up for the next B2B then.

I'd be brining zane up asap and sending khudobin on the first thing smoking to providence. they went out and got what they thought was going to be a reliable backup and guy isn't working. zane showed lots of promise and as far as I'm concerned he's bumped subban out of the goalie mix in boston. and with vladar in the pipe line who looks pretty good too I think subban and dobby are beyond expendable.

Next two back to back's include games against Carolina. My guess is that the plan is to play Khudobin in these games, as Carolina is his former team and he matched up well against them earlier this year. If he bombs the first and/or second game, it is McIntyre time. This gives ZM a chance to get another 4-6 games before a callup.

Our backup goaltending has been horrific this year. Management won't just sit on a guy who is the runaway leader in all categories in the AHL.

Nope; they're going with Rask against Florida. It would make perfect sense to me to go with Khudobin tomorrow against the Whalercanes, though...assuming they have ice.

I didn't think Khudobin was terrible against Brooklyn last night. If one goal goes the other way, we get at least one point, and he has no goals against in regulation. But admittedly, in terms of McIntyre, I haven't been to Providence this year, so all I've seen of him was his stint when Khudobin was injured. He's definitely taken "next man up" over Subban IMO, but I don't KNOW that he's ready for the NHL.

Leading AHL in both categories. His 2nd year as a pro, he will only get more experienced, glad we have him.

What's crazy is the Bruins might have the worst back-up goaltending in the league and they have a guy in the AHL with numbers like this and they haven't brought him up yet.

McIntyre had a 4.04 GAA and 0 wins in his 3 NHL games this year. He'll be the backup before the end of the year, but might as well game Dobby one or two more games first.
