Genuine question for Bruins fans:

What were the fans in the arena booing so loud about? Zadorov, for running Skinner? Skinner for getting run? The refs because it was a penalty?

I can't think of a scenario that makes sense unless the fans hate Zadorov

I think it's probably because home fans are fired up and you typically don't get a replay in arena/stadium as quick as you do sitting at home. Full speed it's hard to tell what happened. I've definitely been there where you boo a call and then you catch a replay and you're like "aw sh** that was a good call".

In my experience the arena doesn't show replays when the home team takes a penalty. Not saying this is true everywhere.

I wouldn’t call it a deliberate run, but it’s not like he was pushed in. His angle of attack led through the middle of the crease. Oilers fans should rightfully be pissed about it.

That's the biggest takeaway from the hit. NO ONE on the Oilers responded? Even if it was accidental (and that's a big if), there still needs to be a response

they responded, they turned to the ref and shrugged looking for a penalty, just like their fearless leader

I think it's very unlikely that he skated exactly to where he intended to. He gets a very slight shove (looks like a little stutter in his motion) and while this doesn't itself push him in a direction, it does slightly change the distribution of his weight. Being pushed to his right would shift his body weight to the right. If he was hoping to cut left right before the crease, he needs to lead with his upper body to the left, so a very slight shove greatly restricts what he can do in terms of his path.

So yeah, the path he took was on him, but it's likely that he was intending to change that path before contact.

Zaddy has been clowned by the Oilers his whole career so there is a bit of history you could question here.. That said, live I didn't see much intent and it seemed like him just trying to go to the net but being a fcking oaf on his skates he couldn't turn the corner.

I just don’t see how he could have avoided going through the crease, even if there wasn’t a defenseman there. At the moment of contact he’s like 3-4 feet from the crease, his left skate (the one he would have shifted his weight onto if he weren’t pushed) is pointed directly at the blue paint, and he’s going a million miles an hour. He might have had an intention to lean on that left skate and do a fly-by, but at best it was going to be inches from Skinner no matter what happened.

I chalk it up to, the game is played on skates and sometimes a guy just gets going faster than he means to on a bad angle. This was a really bad angle, and the reasonable thing was to expect body contact to lock him into it… I’m guessing he ultimately meant to cut it a foot or two inward and just missed his mark.

I mean, Zadorov isn't the kind of guy who thinks first and acts second, let's be honest. He definitely deserved the penalty here, despite me thinking it was unintentional.

The Oilers have no problem with responding. But why give Z the even up penalty?

Apparently Z apologized to Skinner after the hit too. And Josh Brown our AHL face puncher call up had a word with Z.
