I actually assuming he'll go sign in Switzerland next year. He's made close to 10 million in the NHL since being drafted with his bonuses and "slide" year. It's probably the nicest league to play in outside of the NHL, KHL offers more money, but I can't say I've heard good treatment of foreign players. NL in Switzerland is nice, good pay, accommodations, travel, food, etc.

He's going to go back a millionaire but I'm sure he'll look back at that money he put on the table and lost. Bet on himself and just lost.

He'll not have a bad life in hockey outside of the NHL making six figures already being a millionaire, imo.
Abdelkader got paid 1M at Switzerland. Zadina has 10 years of hockey left at Europe and will be fine. Probably will score "normally" and can enjoy the game.

He was a humongous draft bust for us but he never seemed like a bad kid or anything. Just couldn’t think the game fast enough at the highest level, and his shot never really developed. We probably should have kept him in the AHL one more year but honestly not sure it mattered, I just think the game was too fast for him.

*Hughest, if you get my drift.

Add him to the pile with Sheahan, Kindl, McCollum, and B. Smith.
Man, if we're going to steer this thread into talking about biggest draft busts, these guys don't deserve to be catching strays like this.

Overhyped at times? Sure
Disappointing? Maybe
Hugest draft busts? Get out of here.

Brendan Smith has played in 709 NHL games and counting. The 14 guys drafted directly after him played in a combined 237

Sheahan was certainly a bust.
I will concede that Smith played better elsewhere.
Kindl wasn't as big a bust as Riley or Zadina, but he was still a bust.

Sheahan played 637 games in the NHL. That is no where near bust. Especially for a 21'st pick in the draft. Get out of town with this nonsense.
Yeah, and a total of 194 points in 10 seasons. It is safe to say that he sucked.
Alexandre Daigle, who is considered to be one of the top 5, sometimes even the #1 all time busts in NHL history, scored 327 points in 616 games. That's more than ol Tinky Winky did.

What would you have considered Sheahan's ceiling during his draft year?

Sheahan was drafted as a defensive center. He was never a prolific scorer. I don't think you know what bust means.

Although in the extreme disappointment category for a first rounder .3 PPG is not a bust and being a defensive specialist when he played on real teams he actual did hit the + column in +/-.

That season where he almost scored 0 goals if it wasn't for the final game was brutal.
