4th round pick for Zach Kassian

Leivo - Lindholm - Kassian

Zack Kassian is terrible and you are willing to pay a 3rd or 4th for him? Edmonton would have to pay us before we should even consider him. Get over this toughness thing, Kassian makes our team worse and will likely end up on waivers before he gets dealt for anything of value.

Hope he goes to a good team. I hated him when he was on the Canucks but he really turned his life around in Edmonton and was a contributing member on the team that ended the playoff drought.

How about just a 3rd Rd pick

Cap can't really work for us for starters. As mediocre as the sabres are cap space isn't abundant.

Also we gave up our 2nd for skinner so a 3rd this year I assume will be off the table. Yes we potentially have 3 firsts but in my experience Murphys law applies and somehow buffalo's picks from San Jose and the blues both end up deferring to 2020 leaving us with only 1 pick in the first 3 rounds in that scenario and that's not a worthwhile gamble for kassian.

Kassian would be useful in the playoffs for the Leafs. If he's motivated, he plays well

Oh right. Hm.

Bailey hasn’t looked great for awhile now, not sure I’d have interest in him.

Bailey clears some cap space for you and is at least a warm body. His only real asset is speed which maybe your forward corps could turn around but I won't try to oversell him by any means.

Bailey would be fine if we didn’t get any pick offers for but I don’t see much for NHL upside in him.

Like you said at least it clears salary.

Buffalo's 3rd and the oilers pay off hodgson's dead cap space for the remainder lol? Is that even possible?

Nah. Sustr turns like a battleship, haha. Plus Kassian is the type of guy that’s a nightmare to play against when he’s got a bone to pick and id rather not have him running our guys six times a year.

That's the only thing Sustr does like a battle ship. Everything else he does like a baby giraffe.

So would Matt Martin, and he does not need to be motivated to play well... We got rid of him just to get out of salary, and Kassian is not much cheaper and a lot worse unless he is motivated, which does not seem to be all that often these days.

If you are not motivated as a player in the NHL these days, then get out of the business. There are hundreds of players who are motivated to have a spot in the NHL, and many of them are probably capable of being as good as Kassian as when he is "motivated". Proof in point seems to be the guy who has just replaced him.
