He's 32 now. Probably lost a step, not that he was a world beater to begin with. He's playing on an awful team, where he won't be fed easy points.

Kassian, at his best, was basically a goon that showed just enough talent to get a somewhat large contract. Hopefully, he was smart enough to put some cash aside. Unless something major changes, he's not even going to be getting gigs in Europe.

Every year, someone makes a "Biggest waste of talent" thread that inevitably brings up Daigle/Brendl/whoever, but Kassian has to be up there. You could see flashes of elite east/west vision when he was playing here in Vancouver with the Sedins, and he was physically dominant when he was on his game.

But he got caught up in the young dumb guy lifestyle, got kicked off the Canucks, then screwed up his second chance in Montreal - all right around the crucial development ages of 21-25.

Hes a frustrating player. Because hes big, fast, hit and was tough (Hes suffered too many shots though). Dude should be a PERFECT bottom 6'er. But hes just lazy and uninspired. He would only have like 1 good game every 10-15 with the Oilers.

Does he have an NCAA stats page? Maybe he's racking up points and they're confused by the arena.

Kassian really fell off his last couple of years with the Oilers. Several concussions and a broken hand from fights killed the fire he used to play with. From 2015-2021, he was a semi skilled, fast, tough, hard middle 6 player for the Oilers. Unfortunately, his style of play caught up with him.

Guy had moments of being a legit effective player, even if he never lived up to his initial potential he had an ok run.

But now… he might conceivably be the worst player in the nhl.

There were points last season where I saw him hit somebody and look woozy after. I'm kinda surprised he's still playing at all.

I remember when some people here were trying to argue he was a top 6 player when he was putting up 0.5 ppg numbers next to McDavid and Draisaitl.

Unless they were just trying to pump up his trade value?

Him and Cody Hodgson had the potential to be elite players in this league. But Hodgson had the injuries and Kassian’s off-ice issues did his development in

The more games he plays, the better their chances are at Bedard

Hodgson's dad was apparently also annoying, and there was rumours of lots of difficulties between Hodgson's camp and the Canucks when it came to development (i.e. defensive effort). He ended up having that career-ending condition with the muscle issue, but 10 years later it's shocking to see that both players ended up having the same commitment issues given how lopsided the trade seemed at the time.

I completely forgot about that. Yea, two very disappointing careers
