Zach Werenski should be considered for the Norris?

Sure, but you added that it was incredible, but it just isn't when compared to Hughes and Makar and you're in a thread about Werenski in contention for the Norris. Of course the other guys are going to be brought up to compare.

No nevermind we are now discussing quality of teammates and overall success of those teams being mentioned rather than the players specifically. Not too mention how voters for the nominees general judge respective candidates.

Saying Werenski is incredible because he has 22 points more than his team's next highest scoring defenseman, as if that is some sort of distinguishing factor, when Hughes and Makar have 33 and 29 more than their next highest scoring teammate, is a bit silly.
Whatever you're saying about success and quality isn't particularly clear, but when you look at possession stats relative to teammates, Hughes' stats are much better than Werenski's, even though Hughes' has a better partner and two 100pt centers to work with, Hughes also leads the Canucks in scoring by 14 points, while Werenski is 1 behind Marchenko.
Werenski is good, easily top 3 overall this year and will be nominated for the Norris, but as of now he wouldn't' be the winner.
I don't think anyone other than Quinn and Cale will have a reasonable shot at the Norris over the next 3-4 seasons. They're just that much better than their peers.

That's not what I asked. Is those stats A. incredible (Makar & Hughes) and B. does Werenski being a comparable make it less so?
Again, totally subjective so no right answer, just curious as how others might value dmen for norris.
Would you value a 2nd year pro dman (generational) who had won the Calder the year before, leads his (expansion) team in points and twice as many assists as the next player on his team. But is 3rd, 4th or 5th by dmen in whatever stats you want to use. Would they have a shot at winning the Norris over more established players on better teams?

Depends on the stats, aside from the curious case of Cale Makar who always seems to get nominated because he puts up tons of points. I don't care much for the idea of newer guys having to earn it, if someone is the best they deserve it. Your fantasy generational defenseman would depend on how many points they get compared to the league. If they're leading and top 5 in stats he's got a good shot.
I don't think the 20~ point lead is a big deal in general, last season Hughes won the Norris with 44 more points than Hronek, and Makar had 40 more than Toews.
should be between Werenski and Hughes with Jakob Chychrun of all people coming in as the dark horse candidate

Hughes being out for a month definitely helps Werenski's chances.
Seems like a solid number three this year. Hughes being out definitely makes things interesting. Makar isn't playing great defensively either.

30 points in 15 home games would be crazy numbers for a forward, let alone a defenseman.
Forget the Norris. With CBJ now unthinkably tied for a playoff spot and Werenski leading them in scoring as a defenseman, this is a scenario where you start thinking Hart votes.

......last night I chuckled as I had this thought for the first time myself.
BTW- would be ultimate proof of how much of a garbage award Hart is, if a defenseman would win a Hart (because he's standout player in fringe/mediocre team, and other top dogs "cancel each other out"), but wouldn't win Norris (because he's actually NOT best defenseman this particular season).
Not talking about Werenski situation on particular (though he might be good candidate), just in general, it would be funny if someone would pull such thing.
