Zach Hyman...

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Throw Bouchard in the conversation too
I think that's a far worse example. Bouchard's still on pace for 64P which is not a massive drop from 82 the previous year. Nuge on the other hand went from a career high of 69 to 104, but there was a few guys around the league who had massive 100P seasons that year that will probably never touch it again. I.e. Robertson, Pettersson.

looks like hes been injured. scoring at a decent clip still.
He had a busted up face for a long time. Facial injuries are hard to manage. Tons of pain to work through, possible vision distortion (from the injury or the visor he was wearing afterwards. I don't think 54 goals for Hyman will happen again, but his scoring dips through the regular season this year aren't something I would expect from a healthy Hyman either.

Hyman’s goal scoring looks a lot like Vic Hadfield’s in the late-60s/mid-70s.

Typically pots 20-something, occasionally 30-something, and puts up one 50-goal outlier season.

Nothing wrong with that kind of career.

What a disappointment. He's fully 2 goals behind Auston Matthews on the year. Can't even keep up with Matthews.

I have to respect Jets fans for still hating on Matthews long after the Laine arguments ended. Like Japanese soldiers on deserted islands unaware WW2 was over.

Good point about the type of injury. For a player like Hyman, who produces via deflections and digging a pucks right at his feet, the vision impairment he had with the bubble on would have been a greater detriment to him than for other players.

I am glad to have your respect. Matthews will score 30 this year, I think he will get there by the hair of a mustache.

Hyman is Chris Kunitz. Nothing wrong with that, but their similarities are that they played with a generational talent that made their stats explode better than they were. You had to figure things would come back to earth eventually, right?

Personally, not surprised at all…well actually, I’m probably surprised he’s scored as much as he has this year…looks like he’s going to score 30+ again and I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was less than that
