Player Discussion Zach Hyman

Just no to J.Skinner. He will be -3 next game and we will all wonder what happened to our team D.

Max Jones should slot in and play 8-10mins.
He won't, you're being ridiculous. Skinner improved his game and is a legit top-6 option.

I like the idea of Jones, but for game one of the finals to run around and soften up the opponent

Haha... now that's the spirit Drivesaitl!!!!

I told you it was ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ days and not 🌧️☔💩🌪️

Let's close this baby out and take care of business!
That you did good sir! I figured if I swore at the goaltending long enough it would gel. Really nothing to see, thats what I was going for. jk

I'm fibbing ftr. But awfully happy for all the younger folk (everybody) heh

As if to match your sunshine its absolutely gorgeous weather here now.

I’m not necessarily one of the young guys. But damnit I want to see a cup I can remember. I was 8

And the guys at the bottom will all slide up, creating an opening for someone who can hit people for 8 mins. We don't need more goals

Expecting Skinner to step in and play top six isn't realistic. He hasn't played for a month
Kapanen did score 20 goals earlier in his career, and other may step up, but right now they will have to lean heavily on McDavid and Draisaitl, and they may not be as effective without Hyman.

hes not a 4th liner. He’s an AHL player who got some games at the NHL level this year

If you assume he plays 15 to 20 minutes in that role, maybe, but he can play 10 to 12 in that role and be fine. He's not some kid, he's played over 1000 games in this league

I disagree. Hyman is a huge loss. Too simply move people up a line or bring a guy up from the AHL to start hitting people is easier said than done, especially with 3 possible games left in the semis and hopefully the Stanley Cup.

It's the intangibles that Hyman brings, like anticipation, knowing where to be, not getting rattled and doing the little things matters more than the pretty stuff at this point.

Hyman loss sucks but I'm not that worried about it with Ekholm coming back (assuming we make it to the finals). Brown or Perry can slot up on the top line, or you could think about moving Kane there. I think Arvidsson's fresh legs should be effective for the role he'll be playing in the bottom 6 as a forechecker.

While Stetcher has played admirably and is the perfect #7, he's still the weak link and Ekholm back (assuming he's fully healthy) eliminates the only weak link they had on the back end. This D group is actually insanely good with Ekholm in there, and I think that's going to have a bigger impact than the downgrade of Hyman on the top line. McDavid's wingers are going to produce regardless. He'll make sure of that.

Beyond the fact that Knob insisted on not disclosing the injury, could the fact that he had the surgery asap be another sign he could come back late in a potential SCF?

Often they take their time with surgery, but I suppose it depends heavily on the type of injury.

I seriously doubt it. From all reports it was a broken wrist. Not a run of the mill recovery that takes a few weeks.
