Two mighty mites who absolutely showed out in the playoffs...I thought Benson was probably the most impressive Sabres forward for their entire run and while Stank had a lot more competition for that mantle on his team (Staal, Blake, Hall), he absolutely stirred the drink repeatedly as a true line-driving center.

Zach Benson
Height: 5-10 (listed)
Age: 21
Position: Winger
Season: 65 Games, 13 Goals, 43 Points, +27, 15:53 TOI
Playoffs: 13 Games, 5 Goals, 9 Points, +6, 17:06 TOI

Logan Stankoven
Height: 5-8 (listed)
Age: 23
Position: Center
Season: 81 Games, 21 Goals, 44 Points, +12, 15:27 TOI
Playoffs: 19 Games, 11 Goals, 16 Points, +8, 17:12 TOI

Good comparison, I gotta go with Stank after watching him in the Finals the dude just does not have an off switch and always seems to find the best scoring chances

Benson will not last so long if he continues to be the type to slewfoot the opponent in a decided playoff series.

Stankoven. Appeared more noticeable regardless and drove his team to a Cup.

Benson will be perfectly fine lol, this isn't that kind of league anymore

People said the same thing about Marchand and Kadri who've had careers of over 1000 GP each

It's so close. I have to watch more of Logan's defensive game, Benson is such a strong impact there I dont want to say benson without having a true understanding of what Logan does on that side of the ice. Offensively they are a push for me

Stankoven has better goal scoring ability.

Benson is the more cerebral player, but i think hes too small and has a below average shot to be a top line player.

If Benson sees 1PP time, I think hes an easy 60 point player.

Benson is 2 years younger and already as good as Stankoven.

After watching them both against the habs in the playoffs, I think theyre both really good pieces but i'd take Benson. Kid looks a lot like prime Gallagher. So much grit and such an annoyance on the ice. Stankoven probably have more talent though.

Nothing better than watching Stank throwing a thundering hit on Matt Rempe in Kamloops a few years ago. Stankoven has repeatedly stripped defenseman twice his size regularly in his career.

Took Benson by a slim margin. Kid was relentless.

Oh....and my Stank vs Bolduc poll I posted at the start of the season. Not even close after watching Stank these playoffs. Im dumb.

Hope both Stank and Benson suit up for future Team Canadas

I love Benson. He might be my favorite player. But I would guess that Stankoven is the better player, at least currently (he's two years older, so Benson might flip it soon). The biggest difference is that Stankoven is the more powerful skater. He's explosive on his edges. Benson doesn't have that, he's not a good skater. And of course Stankoven just led a cup winner in goals, it says a lot.

What Stankoven did these playoffs was very impressive - Benson was impressive too, but Stankoven centered (and was the engine imo) of the most dominant line in these playoffs along side of Hall and Blake. Went with him, but admittedly, recency bias plays a role.
