Rinaldo Signs 2 Year Extension

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 5-11, 185-lb left wing Zac Rinaldo to a two-year contract extension, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

“I’m surprised that we even starting to talk about it so early but I am thrilled," said Rinaldo. "Philadelphia is where I started my NHL career and this is where I want to be so I am really happy. This definitely gives me a lot of confidence by the Flyers showing that they have confidence in me. I know they want to see me get better as a player and this is the place to do it.”

Ahhhhh. Yea. Not what I was expecting today. But again, Hex considers Rinaldo part of the core. Those 4 mins a game and causeing a ton of short handed situations are crucial to the success of the team it seems.

What is he good at other than hitting?

He takes way more penalties than he draws, he can't kill penalties, he can't produce points, he can't hang on to the puck, and he's bad defensively.

Hextall in one interview (can't remember which exact one) mentioned Rinaldo along with the likes of B. Schenn & Couturier as young roster players moving forward.

The coaching staff (Berube & Lappy) is also on record with their feelings toward Rinaldo.

The Flyers have committed to being worse than they otherwise could have been for two more years. Congratulations, Zac Rinaldo.

This should sum up most people's feelings, as long as they're the right feelings.
