Yzerman End of Season pressconference

Yeah I think the message is clear....

No bro, Yzerman doesn't care, Larkin is 100% in the right, Yzerman will just come out and say he would say the same thing when he was captain!!!!

Lol. He did the exact opposite of saying he would do the same thing. Called Larkin out as directly as possible for a guy as professional as he is. Yzerman translated into Jim Rutherford's vocabulary would probably have included a bunch of cursing.

"We need the goalie to stop the puck more." -Steve Yzerman

Dang.

I disagree with this one. Every goalie we get plays well somewhere else and sucks with us.

There's a reason for that. And comments like Todd highlighting JUSTIN HOLL as one of the highly improved players as the season went on appears to signal that they don't get their defensive group f***ing blows.

Larkin is not a good leader and to me it seems clear Yzerman and McLellan (especially McLellan, tbh) is very unhappy with the leaders in the room and that starts with Larkin.

I have a feeling he's traded at the draft. I can see something sneaky like a 1 for 1 for Pettersson.
Larkin has a NMC he has to agree to go to Vancouver. Good luck with that.

Criticizing Larkin's effort level and then trading him for Pettersson is definitely a choice...

Guys Larkin is going nowhere lol
Keep parroting that. Now that Yzerman's comments are the exact opposite of what the guys in here were telling us, I wonder where the goal posts will shift to next.

It's clear as day that Yzerman and McLellan are very unhappy with Larkin's leadership based on this interview.

Something def went down with Walman that we will never know, you don't ship a 2nd to just rid of a guy that quickly.

I agree with Yzerman and Todd that the team could've made the playoffs, and Todd point to a handful of games where they pissed away points. I know many more including those lol.

I don't think effort is the issue at all. I think leadership is. Larkin tries hard and I've never said that's an issue with him.

Pettersson should not get a letter here. I would go Seider C, Raymond A, Kane A.

Larkin has to ask out. Like it or not if those two talking right now cannot make tangible changes and make the playoffs Larkin will last longer than them.

I am glad he lit a fire under them. This is the first time he has had a pulse in one of these. Yzerman is always honest, glad somebody has kicked his ass in gear though and Larkin isn’t in trouble unless he asks out. It’s why he is the one that said it to begin with.

I'm not saying a trade is for sure happening, that's just where my guess leans towards.
But I do think it's funny that Yzerman's response is the opposite of what people in here were saying...lol

Now we're changing the narrative to "Larkin lit a fire under Yzerman". I do not think that's what happened. I think Yzerman and McLellan are clearly saying Larkin needs to step up and lead the room and not whine about adding guys.
