I am starting to see the guys are going back to their old habits with each passing game.
They are going to get bounced in the first round almost certainly, it's just the reality of this team and its ownership.

NBA: Dallas and LA pulled off a most stunning trade with Luka and Anthony Davis. A year after the Mavs made the finals. We saw Avs move Rantenan a couple of years after winning a Cup rather than weakening their depth by signing him (and Avs had to have known the cap was expanding so they didn't want to NOT have the excuse so they traded him BEFORE the cap ceiling was raised. Astute ownership).

Some teams go for it and constantly adapt to the changing reality and try to mold their teams to a ring, other teams are comfortable with assured mediocrity, the path of least resistance. I never thought Keefe was the problem, barring some dramatics, it will be hard to see Berube or any other coach being the solution though he will try of course. This is a personnel issue which only GM and ownership can solve if they had the courage and vision.

This team will need absurd goaltending and relentless D to win even a round.

Stop right there. That Mavs deal stinks to high heaven. It makes no sense whatsoever.

We ain't even close with the depth we have and Rielly being horrible.

To me the outcome of the trade doesn't matter as much as constantly and objectively re-calibrating and "going for it" does.

Now, it's far more difficult to justify a trade after a guy just made the Finals. Could you imagine Dallas keeping Luka if he dropped the First Round 8 out of 9 years? With only one playoff round of success?

Come on, that's crazy talk for government agencies happy with the status quo not serious championship seeking professional sports teams.

After a sloppy win isn't the best time to evaluate. I looked at Stolarz and Woll's game logs and between them they have seen more than 35 shots just five times in 45 games. The Oil had 30 SOG last time they played so this isn't Berube hockey or Leaf hockey for that matter.

The pp is kind of an open sore though. The most obvious thing is Matthews should have about 5 more goals which would move them from 14th to 6th in efficiency. Is that slumping Matty or a Matty-Berube/Savard thing? Detroit is 4th getting the same limp goal scoring from their D as the Leafs so I don't agree they desperately need a cannon from the point. The Leafs had the #6 pp last year with 2 goals from their D which they have already matched this year. Tampa led the league in pp last year with 5ppg from their D and this year they have the 5th best pp with 2 defense ppg. Its the system IMO.

Yeah for sure. That depth though isn't taking us far or anywhere and Morgan can lose games for us in the playoffs on his own. Is the guy using hard drugs?

Rielly should be getting booed off the ice
Booing someone is ridiculous unless it's an effort level. Even then, no one knows for sure of there is a nagging injury.

If he has lost a step which it looks like he has that hardly seems like a reason to boo someone.

Lost a step. He is worse than chewed up Dion or Jake Gardiner out there.
