It's too early, but a great start when you consider all the injuries.

Toronto has been able to stay in 1 goal games, and hold a lead in the 3rd period better than other years.

Hasn't done anything with the team that Keefe couldn't/didn't do.
You're not going to give Berube the 82 game benefit of the doubt?

There's no denying that there's a 'presence' to Craig Berube, that can't help but make the leaf players a bit more willing to engage. And they started out the year throwing more hits early on. I've even seen a slight increase in Marner's physicality here. But honestly, much of that has cooled. The old habits are back, stylistically they seem much the same aside from protecting the house a bit more and losing their offence across all 12 forwards and D. The grinder element has been nothing to write home about. And, nothing that would give any indication that things will be different in the postseason. Craig needs to refocus and get em hardened up in the 2nd half here, but good luck - as its the country club that is MLSE, which needs to change around them even more.

I don't see the huge difference or how it will make it better in the post-season, but we'll see. Opinions can change and the most part of the season is coming up.

Right now the team is highly inconsistent with a painful PP that makes no sense, and now the PK is sputtering. Goaltending has been the only thing truly really good most nights.

I will give them some slack for the amount of injuries we've had to overcome. I'd blame our management for not helping there.

Better defensively but overall you can't turn kittens into tigers. When the chips are down we will see the same thing. As I said EIGHT YEARS AGO ( :biglaugh: ) the team philosophy is flawed at such a basic level, and it is insulting to the point of not wanting to be a fan anymore that they refuse to address it.

Poor job

The offence stinks and I'm not really sure why that would change in the playoffs. The defence was good for the first few months but has regressed significantly. We have also been a horrible team by xGF% since late November

We'll see how it shapes up for the playoffs, but I'm not confident. A lot of the issues also fall on Brad Treliving (his roster construction has been puzzling) so it's not entirely on Berube

Actually given the injuries, lack of depth up front, garbage PP, zero offence from the blue line, a shitty 7.5m dman and Matty only having 20 goals after 50 games, I'd say he's made lemonade from the lemons he was given.

I like when these kinds of polls are started during a losing streak. Then the Leafs will win the next 4 games and this poll will drop to the third page of the forum.

We'll see how the playoffs go, but so far not impressed. The narrative was accountability was coming.

In reality, Keefe held them more accountable. He split up Matthews and Marner and forced them to play in different roles. He split up the first PP unit many times and didn't just keep putting them out there over and over with no changes and give them 1:30 of the PP.

The defending was very solid until mid December. Since then the entire team looks lost like they don't know what to do defensively. If the goaltending is not perfect we lose every game because scoring 2 goals is a monster ask of this team.

IDK. Unless the team magically plays perfectly how Berube wants them to in the playoffs, what is there to be hopeful about? This is the same issues we've seen in the playoffs for years just in the regular season.

Can't score 5v5 and special teams are ass.

Regular season means diddly squat to the Leafs and the fans. What they do in the playoffs is what will matter to me. If Berube is setting them up for a long playoff run and a parade down Yonge Street, then build a pyramid for him….enshrine him in Gold….what else did the Pharaoh’s get?

I prefer this type of hockey to translate to the playoffs.

If the team struggles for scoring during the playoffs how are they going to be better when there significantly worse at scoring during the regular season?

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me

if this new gameplay actually Worked wouldn't we score more goals more consistently?

Not impressed but also a mountain of injuries this year have made it hard to find consistency. That being said the team has not played particularly well for some time now, they're having trouble scoring, the PP still sucks and they overall just look like an average team that is a weird fit with what the coach wants. Overall, this management and coaching group is too safe to the point where they are unwilling to be creative or take big risks to really go for it, and ultimately they are pissing away the window to actually win which may close soon enough if nothing is done.
